Ques. How is Chemical Engineering at NIT Calicut in terms of faculty, facilities and placements?

● Top Answer By Charulata Bose on 25 Aug 21

It is really exciting that people are interested in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. There are many other topics in chemical engineering that you will start loving when you start reading them.  If you are genuinely interested in the subject then it will completely be your effort in approaching the professors to learn and to study more.  There are not many professors in the department. Most of them are Ad-hoc teachers who will be teaching the subject. If you wish to go for higher studies, it will be your effort in asking the faculty to help you out.  Category NIT Calicut Total Fee 5.42 lakhs Companies Visited Oracle, Hindustan Unilever, GlaxoSmithKline, Cipla, etc. Highest Package 49.75 LPA Average Package 12-15 LPA If you talk about the placement scenario, there are only a few core companies that visit the campus along with a lot of non-core companies. Overall, college life is good in the department of chemical engineering....Read more

Ques. Which college has the best chemical engineering department in Kerala: GEC Thrissur, NIT Calicut or TKM College?

● Top Answer By Utkarsh Kumar on 28 Aug 21

You should have a clear idea of what you are going to pursue after the four years. This way you can focus on a particular college accordingly for your undergraduate degree.  If you are aspiring to get placed then go for NIT Calicut. Mostly 3 to 5 core companies often visit for chemical engineering branch with very decent packages. The campus life is worth living at NIT Calicut. You can enjoy various games at the hostel and special evening clubs are designed basically for holistic development.  Another factor that makes NIT Calicut stand out is the politically passive environment where you can fully concentrate on your academics and engross yourself in the academics-related clubs along with some co-curricular activities. The only disadvantage that NIT Calicut has is the weak alumni network due to the newly formed campus as compared to GEC Thrissur. Along with the placements, the brand name of NIT when added to your resume can help you immensely for your future professional life. So think twice and consider all the factors before taking final admissions....Read more

Ques. Where is the best for chemical engineering, NIT Jaipur, NIT Bhopal, or NIT Calicut?

● Top Answer By Nayantara Raman on 20 Aug 21

All the mentioned NITs are among the top engineering institutes in the country. Out of all the NITs in India, the best choice is NIT Rourkela. As some of my friends studied there I might be able to give you some reasons. These are: NIT Rourkela is famous for its Chemical Branch.  The research culture of the institute is outstanding. The institute has been ranked 16th in the NIRF Ranking for Engineering 2020. It is way above all the three institutes mentioned. The JEE Main cut-offs are high. So, only the best students get a chance for admission.  The college also encourages diversity. The fee and chemical branch placement details are as follows. Categories Chemical at NIT Rourkela Fee INR 8.22 Lakhs Minimum Package INR 3.6 LPA Average Package INR 6.58 LPA Highest Package INR 22 LPA The top recruiters include L&T, Reliance, Tata, P&G, Parle, ACC Cement, Aditya Birla, IOCL, PGCIL, NTPC, GMR Energy, GlaxoSmithKline, and more. Overall, NIT Rourkela is an excellent choice. After CSE and EC branches, the Chemical branch recorded the highest placements. The return on investment of college is decent. But you should opt for it only if you can deal with and function under strict regulations and laws....Read more

Ques. Should I choose NIT Calicut CSE or IIT BHU chemical Engineering?

● Top Answer By Sumit Barua on 27 Aug 21

If you are interested in coding and aim to work in good corporate firms, then it is suggested that you go for CSE at NIT Calicut. But if you want an IIT tag, you can opt for IIT BHU. But this won't matter much afterward. So, if you are focused on doing research then Chemical Engineering at IIT BHU will be a good option. You can also learn coding on the sidelines, which might be beneficial if you sit for placements. Parametres CSE at NIT Calicut Chemical Engineering at IIT BHU Tuition Fee INR 16,000 INR 6.7 LPA Placement Percentage 73.5% 71% Average Package INR 11.57 LPA INR 16.27 LPA The choice of studying in a college pursuing a particular subject is entirely up to you. Check where your strengths and weaknesses lie and then choose accordingly. Both institutes are good in their own way. But it is your hard work and dedication that will prove if CSE or Chemical will be good for you. ...Read more

Ques. Is NIT Calicut civil or chemical better in terms of placements and scope in future?

● Top Answer By Atul Mandal on 23 Aug 21

If you are a Civil student, my advice to you would be to prepare for the GATE exam once you are done with your degree. The placement is quite low for core companies. Many students also follow the same. Chemical students are known to focus on jobs and have a good placement in analytics and software-based companies. Many of the top ones also land core jobs. My suggestion would be to check the syllabus and pick the subject you like. You will realize which subject has good scope and what does not. As far as Civil is concerned, most students land jobs at L&T. But, they will make you work a lot and you will not be satisfied with the pay. This is not the case with Chemical engineering....Read more

Ques. What should I choose, chemical engineering at NIT Calicut or ECE at IIIT Jabalpur?

● Top Answer By Ishita Roy on 25 Aug 21

Chemical Engineering and ECE, both the branches are in demand. The major scope of Chemical Engineering is in chemical, food processing, pharma, medical industries, oil, and gas, etc. The major scope of ECE is in android, mobile, and telecommunication. The majority of the students prefer ECE because of two reasons. The first reason being comfort. Secondly, after acquiring skills in programming languages, it is easy to switch to the IT or software field. Here is a brief overview of CE at NIT Calicut and ECE at IIIT Jabalpur. Institute  NIT Calicut  IIIT Jabalpur  Average CTC  11 LPA  9.9 LPA  Highest CTC  43 LPA  23 LPA  Major recruiters  CISCO, Bosch, TATA Group IBM, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft Course fee 2.08 lakhs  5.29 lakhs  If you don’t have any particular inclination towards any branch you can go for ECE at IIIT Jabalpur....Read more
