Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because of my interest in chemical engineering. There will be 1 faculty for a particular course for every 60-70 students (depending on the branch). The faculties here are highly qualified and experienced, they have a huge knowledge of their subject and can solve any doubts which you have. The teaching method of some professors is not so good, because most of the time students may not understand what is going on in the class. The exams are a little tough, and more conceptual. You have to listen to the class properly and take advice from seniors for every particular course. Some courses are so tough that you will think of just passing them somehow.

Ques. How is Chemical Engineering at NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Reshmi Ghosh on 23 Mar 21

My brother graduated from NIT Surathkal, with bachelors in chemical engineering and hence I could give you quite a relatable experience. To be clear, chemical engineering is not like studying chemistry. There is only 20% of chemistry and the rest is all physics. You might also want to do your own little research for further understanding of the branch what subjects it entails. There is no point in me mentioning all the curriculum details here. The basic point here that I’m trying to make is that if you are fond of solving intricate problems in the petroleum and pharmaceutical industry, chemical engineering is the right fit for you. The placements here are well known and historic. Apart from the handful of students who wished to pursue their higher studies, all the other students in the batch were quite well placed. Therefore, you can stop worrying about the placements from now on. The only minor concern here is with the professors. Apart from a few professors who are quite old, the others are not quite impressive. They care less for students’ ability to understand complex matters and subjects....Read more

Ques. Which college is better: NIT Surat chemical or NIT Surathkal metallurgy?

● Top Answer By Rohit Roy on 09 Jul 21

Considering the opportunities which may get available for you in the future, I would suggest you go for Chemical Engineering at NIT Surat as it would be a better option over metallurgy. As my sister studied there, I am very well aware of the college and its pros and cons. Many PSUs and organizations recruit students of the Chemical Engineering department from NIT Surat. Some of these PSUs which recruit from the college include BPCL, HPCL, IOCL, and COAL India. Many people consider NIT Surathkal to be better than NIT Surat based on incomplete information and the NIRF ranking released by the Ministry of Education, India. Categories Chemical at NIT Surat Metallurgy at NIT Surathkal Course Fee 5.63 lakh 5.45 lakh Highest CTC 16 LPA 12 LPA Average CTC 7 LPA 6 LPA Recruiting Companies ONGC, DE Shaw, GlaxoSmithKline, Hindustan Unilever, etc. Tata Steel, Ambuja Cement, Tech Mahindra, Vedanta, etc. Choose wisely after performing a significant amount of research and analysis about the courses that you wish to get enrolled in from either of these institutions....Read more
