NITK, Surathkal Launches Three CoEs for NEP 2020

New Delhi: The National Institute of Technology Karnataka, (NITK) Surathkal has established three Centers of Excellence (CEOs) to implement the National Education Policy-2020,

The centres of excellence have been established by NITK Surathkal in accordance with NEP-2020. These are: Centre for Sustainable Energy Engineering (CSEE), Centre for Women Welfare and Social Empowerment (CWWSE), and Centre for Public Relations, Information and Media Exchange (C-PRIME).

As per NITK, the NEP 2020 has provided students of both technical and non-technical institutions a world of opportunities that enables them to pursue their goals and change the world. Due to this, the CoEs have been established by NITK and Surathkal.

These CoEs are designed to give students a thorough understanding of both technical and non-technical subjects, allowing them to develop a diverse set of skills. The institute also wants to give students access to cutting-edge science and technology so they can stay precisely on the cutting edge of their respective fields of study.

According to Prasad Krishna, director (additional charge), NITK Surathkal, these three recently established centres at the university will collaborate with pertinent ministries, business leaders, and other higher education institutions in light of NEP 2020 to provide students with a thorough learning experience and the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the modern world.

Here's a short Overview on the NITK Surathkal CEOs:

  1. Centre for Public Relations, Information and Media Exchange (C-PRIME)

C-PRIME is intended to deliver academic initiatives in line with NEP -2020 recommendations as well as to promote and uphold NITK's reputation through the effective use of several media platforms. The Institute, its stakeholders, and the public relations can exchange information via this Centre for Public Relations, Information, and Media Exchange, which will promote greater cooperation and transparency.

  1. Centre for the Welfare and Empowerment of Women (CWWSE)

CWWSE has been set up to help women become more independent and empowered. The centre aims to create a culture of inclusion and equality by offering the necessary resources and support, which will help to create a more diverse and productive workforce and enable its members to actively participate in the growth and development of the country.

  1. Centre for Sustainable Energy Engineering (CSEE)

Impressed by the Maire Tecnimont Center for Waste Recycling and Circular Economy, NITK Surathkal, during his visit in October for annual convocation, Dharmendra Pradhan, Union minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, urged the institution to establish a full-fledged sustainable energy department in order to make the NITK Surathkal a national leader in energy transition within a decade. As a result, the Centre for Sustainable Energy Engineering (CSEE) was established.

The creation of a focused CSEE would give students a platform to learn about and get experience in sustainable energy engineering, enabling them to come up with creative answers to the world's energy problems. The researchers would have a special opportunity to collaborate and share their specialised knowledge through CSEE.
