After the completion of the 7th semester, our placement season is starting. It is starting in the first week of December. But students are doing preparation from starting of the 7th semester. The whole 7th semester is full of coding and questioning round for B.Tech students. We are preparing for that.
When I was entering the 11th class, I started preparation for that. I was preparing for JEE ADVANCED exam to take admission to IIT Dhanbad. For eligibility for that exam, you should opt subjects like Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry for that and you should first qualify for JEE Main exam for that.
In the seventh semester students who want placements have to register for every company they want to place in. First, there are online coding rounds are there and then on 1st December interviews are there if you qualified in the coding round. Many companies came in placements like google, amazon, Flipkart, uber, sprinkler, Goldman Sachs, and many more. Our highest package is 55 lahks D.E.Shaw and the average is around 18 lakhs. More than 70% of students get placed if they want to get placement. I want to do the job after my degree and apply for a master's at a big university like Stanford.
To enter into IIT college first you need to give jee main examination and out of all the students they qualify first 10 % students for JEE advanced examination. And as per merit of that exam collages are filled. Also, you need 75% or 80 percentile in the 12th board to take admission in nit or it. Also, there is a reservation in both jee exams. the jee main exam details can be found on nta.ac.in and jossa is the website to take admission to college. The process is good but if they reduce the 75% in the 12th board then students can foucus more on competitive exams.
The placements at the college are very good. Very big tech giants visit the campus and recruit many students. The median CTC of Pre placement offer was 30 LPA and that of Day 0 and day 1 of placement was 17 LPA. Talking about the CSE branch mostly all students got placed in the placement session. The major companies visited were google, Microsoft, Walmart, amazon, uber, sprinkler, etc.
The admission process was based on the Jee advanced exam score and the jee mains score. then the Josaa counseling is done. In each round of JOSSA counseling the college is given to you according to your priority list. You can freeze in between also.
After 6th semester the placement process is started and students start filling out the form for different companies. And almost every student is placed at last of the 8th semester. Many students get preplacement offers(PPOs). Walmart offers around 25 offers. As in the 2022 batch highest domestic package is INR 50 LPA and the international package is INR 103 LPA whereas the average package is INR 17.30 LPA. Around 70-80% batch is placed. My plan after getting the degree is to do the job and study for the UPSC entrance exam.
Students must pass the class 12th board exam. The application form is available at the site of JEE Advanced and the application fees are based on the categories like for general and OBC(males & transgender) are? 2800 while for females and reserved categories are? 1400. Admission process is fine.
At the beginning of 3rd year, we get a chance for internships where around 50% get an internship. And at the beginning of last year, we have many companies to apply for placement and around 100% of students get placed each year.
I got admission through JEE Advanced and the cutoff varies based on category and for OBC it was a 5200 category rank. For admission, you have to clear jee mains and jee advanced with a good score. After you can get admission through JOSAA.
In the seventh sem students become eligible for campus placement. More than 300 companies visited every year and more than 1100 offers were made. The highest domestic package is approx 54 lacs and the average package is approx 19 lacks. More than 90 percent of students get placed and my plan is to take placement.
Admission was through the jee advanced examination. we can get the application from the official website of jee advanced and the fees of the application form are given there according to your reservation. And yes there is a reservation benefit.
Our college and especially our department (petroleum engineering) are performing at their best. I mean placements are very good in our college. Almost 80 percent of students get offers from on-campus placements. Also, many students can offers from off-campus as well
As my college is an IIT its entrance exam was JEE ADVANCED. For admission, we have to take part in the jossa admission counseling process. Jossa gives benefits to the category students like general news and obc and sc and st. Jossa gives reservations to girls and PWD students as well. The counseling process was difficult to understand so I had to watch videos of many Counsellors. Jee is one of the toughest exams in the world and you have to prepare so hard to crack it. before jee advanced we have to give jee mains as well it is also a tough exam but easier than jee advanced and more likely that you can crack it. You can also use your personal computer to practice jee problems using online resources. For jee main, nta launched an application called national text abayas to practice jee main paper. There are two papers of jee advanced. Patterns of both are random so it becomes more difficult to crack them. You get admission using another gate exam also and iitjam can also get you into my college.
The placements at the college are decent with the highest package around 55 lacs and the average package around 14 to 15 lacs. Nearly all the students who get placed are eligible for the placement process. Around 300-400 companies visit our campus for the hiring process.
To enrol in any of IIT you have to first qualify JEE Mains Exam and then after successfully qualifying you have to qualify JEE Advance exam with a good rank. The application form for the mains exam is released on the NTA portal twice a year. And if qualify for the MAINS exam at least once, then you will have to register for the Advance exam on jee advance website. I am from a general category so no reservation benefits are availed. I think the overall admission process is quite smooth and easy to register. But I think the registration fee for both exams should be equal for all candidates irrespective of their social background, only economically weaker students should be given a concession in fee. Other than that the whole process is online and anyone can be able to access it.
The main reason for choosing a computer science degree is good placement and intership opportunities. The coding culture at IIT ISM Dhanbad is very good and we have a coding society here, in which branch seniors take weekly classes and teach important concepts related to competitive programming.
The admission process was followed through JoSSA counselling. Courses were allotted according to the score i.e. All India Rank in JEE advanced examination. Candidates can find previous years' rank cutoff on the Jossa website to know the chances of branch allocation according to their rank.
In the fifth semester companies come to offer internships around 500 students out of 1100 get internships and several of them get PPO. Mostly PPO offer is more than 30lpa. Placement occurs in 7 semesters and in just 2 days around 800 students get placed including PPO. Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sach, Amazon, Atlassian, uber , zepto , Sprinklr, newzera , tech Japan, Walmart, hotstar and several others companies visit. Around 200 companies visit campus for placement.
The admission process is through jee advanced examination. In order to qualify for jee advanced, you need to clear jee mains first. The cut for jee mains for the general category is around the 90 percentile (depending on the number of applicants ). The application form is released by NTA. Reservations are provided for OBC, SC, ST, and even economically weaker sections. I think a single jee mains paper would be better as compared to several shifts as exam happens now because whatever the exams are not of same level.
I had to write the Jee Advanced for which you had to clear the Jee Mains which i had and you need to get a certain rank to get into the college you desire in this case if you get around 8000 ranks in the open category in Jee advanced you will get into iit dhanbad in electrical engineering in joasa(joint seat allocation authority) it is around 3000 or 1500 open-category students you get to go to the best colleges even for the farthest ranks I would like it to give less propriety / benifits for reserved students.
SrBy - Siddharth reddyThe admission process was good. I was selected on the basis of JEE Advanced. The students in our college can get admission only through JEE Advanced examination which is one of the toughest examinations in the world. The fee structure and other details will be mailed to us and we apply to the college through a website called Josaa means joint seat allocation authority.
PABy - Polisetty AakarshI took admission into the institute by clearing jee advanced examination in the year 2023 for my course computer science and engineering the cutoff rank was 1190 in OBC and in general category the cutoff rank was 3258. All the details regarding application form, application fees and dates will be given in the josaa website and official IIT(ISM) Dhanbad website. The admission process is kind of irritating because the registration site gets stuck due to many persons trying at a time. And you need to stand in a very big line during the physical registration in the college
