HPTU offers a 2 year-full-time M.Tech program with 5 areas of specialisations which are Mechanical Engineering, ECE, Water Resource Engineering, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. The course is divided into 4 semesters with each semester having compulsory laboratory activities and final semester having a dissertation. The minimum requirement to apply for the M.Tech program at HPTU is a recognized bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Selection to the program is purely granted on the basis of the candidate's merit of valid GATE Scores or College Entrance Examination Scores.

HPTU M.Tech Eligibility Criteria 

In order to be eligible for M.Tech admission at HPTU, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Must have a recognised bachelor's degree or a degree in relevant field obtaining 50% of total marks of all subjects including languages in al the years of the particular degree examination (General Merit Candidates only)
  • 45% in case of candidate in reserved category at qualifying examination

Admissions to the HPTU M.Tech program are conducted through GATE or HPCET entrance examination. The final selection for all M.Tech specialisations is done through a centralized counselling process conducted by the university.

HPTU M.Tech Course Details 

The HPTU’S M.Tech Program offers 5 major specialisations as mentioned below.

The two-year program is divided into 4 semesters. The first semester is focused on core courses and laboratory experiments. Semester 2 and 3 are focused on electives, seminars and projects which are done on individual elective choices.

There is compulsory dissertation in the final semester based on candidates eligibility(must pass with 50% marks in all three semesters), topics of student’s choice throughout the 2 years of the program.

Ans. As per the latest update on the official website the approved fees is INR 86,000 per year. However, no semester-wise fee structure has been disclosed yet.
