Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Power Systems and Power Electronics) From IIT Hyderabad, Hyderabad

Candidates who passed BTech/BE/MSc/Equivalent Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution are eligible to apply.

The candidates must have a valid GATE score.

The EE department offers the following MTech programs:

Online MTech Program -

Online MTech program For is available to industry professionals who are currently employed. This program is running only in the Micro Electronics & VLSI stream for the current academic year.

MTech (TA) Program - 2 Year

Students take intensive courses during the first year. In the second year they carry out research activities under the supervision of a professor. Teaching Assistantship(TA) in the form of stipend will be provided for students enrolled in this program, and GATE qualification is mandatory.

MTech (RA) Program - 3 Year

This program has greater research component than a two year MTech program. The curriculum is identical to the two year MTech program, but it is distributed over 3 years to give greater emphasis on research. Research assistantship(RA) is available for this program. There are two rounds of admission in this program - Aug and Jan.

Self-sponsored MTech Program - 2 Year (SS)

This is a new program started by IIT Hyderabad during the academic year 2020-21. This is a 2-year program with the same course content and structure as the regular 2-year MTech(TA). The only difference is in the fee structure, which is higher than MTech (TA). Fees for this program are roughly INR 20,000 per credit, and for the entire program the cost is around 10 lakh INR (considering 48-52 credits for a typical program). Note that the MTech (Self-sponsored) students are not entitled to any fellowship since GATE qualification is not be mandatory for this program. Please see the brochure below to know the course structure and admission details.

Available only for industry/IITH project sponsored candidates.

Communication and Signal Processing (CSP)

A valid score in GATE-EC is mandatory for this program. The written test and interview will be based on respective GATE syllabus with emphasis on Signals and Systems, Discrete time Signal Processing, Linear Algebra, Probability and Random Processes, Analog and digital communications.

Microelectronics and VLSI (Micro)

A valid score in GATE-EC/EE/PH is mandatory for this program. The written test and interview will be based on respective GATE syllabus with emphasis on Semiconductor devices, Discrete time signal processing, Electrical networks, Digital electronics and circuits, Analog electronics and circuits

Power Electronics and Power Systems (PEPS)

A valid score in GATE-EE is mandatory for this program. The written test and interview will be based on respective GATE syllabus with emphasis on Electrical networks, Electrical machines, Power systems, Power electronics, Control systems, Linear algebra, Signals and systems

Systems and Control (SysCon)

A valid score in GATE-EE/EC/IN is mandatory for this program. The written test and interview will be based on respective GATE syllabus with emphasis on Electrical Networks, Linear Algebra, Control systems, System design, Advanced Control
