Elan Review at Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne | Collegedunia

There have been plenty of opportunities to learn and grow, the university offers support in plenty of ways and amenities are easily available.

E

Despite being a new university, it was within the UK top 15 for my course. It has good labs, facilities, and faculty and is located in a really good student city.

Course Curriculum :

The course covers a wide range of topics that educate us as students about various disciplines within electronics engineering. It is fairly extensive and helpful in that regard. The labs are beneficial when it comes to the practical application of what we learn and the assignments stimulate self-study and research that broadens our understanding and increases the knowledge of the subject. The university offers a year of industrial placement which, while hard to find and secure, is incredibly helpful for the exposure and insight it brings to a student.

Exams :

I had to submit an SOP along with my 12th grade and 10th grade marks. My IELTS score was also taken. I also mentioned extracurriculars I committed to while in school like debate, quizzing and other competitions.

Placement :

A large number of companies came for industrial placement opportunities (3rd out of 4-year course year-long internship), they offered good locations and fair stipends.

Events :

Campus life was great, the diversity amongst students was high because of the large number of Erasmus and international students. It was always lively. Trips to scenic or enjoyable locations were frequently organized as well. Northumbria library is fantastic, it has a massive collection of literature in addition to various spaces for study ranging from those meant for group discussions to those that are absolutely silent. The labs are well equipped and range depending on the type of research conducted. There is a good selection of both hardware and software. The university offers a gym and many sports club memberships where one gets training in that particular sport.

Fees :

It is currently 15,500 sterling pounds per annum for my course.

Scholarship :

None

Faculty :

17.2 students for every member of faculty. Almost all of my professors were well versed and very helpful.

Hostel :

I lived on campus in my first year in an accommodation called Claude Gibb. It offers catering, has shared bathrooms, and has common rooms for socializing. It was usually quite lovely because of the large number of students occupying it, diverse as well because of the international crowd.
