Remarks :
First, I had to give an exam called VITEEE, and after that exam, I got a rank of around 4000. After that I moved on to the counseling process, where different branches can be applied for along with the fees category, e.g: I got category 3 l, the fee of which is around 4 lakh Rs per annum, however, students who have ranked good enough for category 1 only have to pay a fee of around 2 lahks. No reservation benefits are given by the college to the best of my knowledge. The improvement in the admission process would be to reduce the fees and the intake of the students as the college seems very crowded.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I always had an interest in CSE since the 10th grade when I was first properly introduced to coding I always had a keen interest in statistics so I chose the specialization of Data Science which is an emerging field. The faculty-student ratio is about 15:1. The faculties are very well qualified and have a lot of knowledge however, there are obviously a few exceptions and some are really bad teachers. We have term exams at the end of each semester and we have our continuous assessment tests almost every 45 days, however up until now, I have found them relatively easy as you can study only one night in advance and still get decent marks.
Internships Opportunities :
A lot of companies under incubation at VIT have regularly called for interns, in addition to that VIT gives a lot of internship opportunities to its students with companies like PayPal and Amazon regularly offering paid internships to college students.
Placement Experience :
Campus placements start after the 5th semester I believe and more than 900 companies visit our campus and more than 5000 offers are made. The highest package is INR 1.02 Cr and the average package is approximately 8.2 lacs although almost 50 percent of students easily get a package of over 10 lakhs. The college claims to have a 100% placement rate. I plan to get placed in good company after finishing my degree.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees are very high as this is a private college, the academic and hostel fees over the course of 4 years are approximately 25 lakhs which is extremely costly by most standards. However, the labs are up to date and the hostels are very comfortable to live in. I don't have any scholarship and my fees are paid by my parents.
Campus Life :
We have two annual fests in our college, one is a technical fest called Gravitas, and the other is a cultural fest called Riviera. The fests are very well organized and they call a lot of big-name celebrities in our fests. Our library is the best I have seen in my whole life. It seems like there are billions of books in there and it has a great silent study environment. All the classrooms are equipped with smartboards and all labs have the latest technology equipment. We can play all the popular sports here on campus and there are gyms available as well. There are also more than 100 clubs and chapters where your seniors guide and train you to gain more skills.
