Shaurya Srivastava's Review On Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute Of Management Development & Research - [WeSchool], Mumbai | collegedunia.com

Brutally honest review

Remarks :

Eligibility of the course is determined by the college and the exams are taken that year, I qualified through both CAT and CMAT. The qualifying percentile was somewhere around 77 for CAT and 85 for CMAT. Welingkar has a website that is fairly easy to locate on google. The tougher part is navigating through that website. The admission process opens up twice within a gap of 1.5 months. Once you have registered with welingkar, they make sure to send to emails about the admission process updates. The only improvement I would like welingkar to make is to reduce the number of steps involved in the whole registration procedure which becomes difficult to keep track of and gets agonizing for the students.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I applied for 4 courses, out of which I was shortlisted for 2 (BD & RM). Out of the 2, I picked RM because I am interested in marketing, and when I went through the course curriculum (available on the website) it interested me enough to apply. the subjects listed were very interesting. There have been about 12 subjects each trim so far and they have been taught by permanent as well as visiting faculties. I would say that the faculty-to-student ratio is fair and doubts get cleared even if the class is a bit much with 62 students. Almost all faculties are either people who are or were working in the corporate world. And all of them are Ph.D. with industry knowledge. The term exams were conducted after just 2.5 months and just after the inter assessments, therefore it was a little hectic. Passing the exams was of moderate difficulty, if one studies it was not very tough to crack.

Internships Opportunities :

Many companies have visited so far (cognizant, Accenture, icici bank, reliance retail, Aditya Birla, pharma companies) offering stipends between 70k to 10k. Many are yet to come. I have not gotten in yet so I'm gonna rate it a 5.

Placement Experience :

5th semester onwards students are eligible for placements. Since I am in my first year, I have limited knowledge of the subject. although companies like Accenture, Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, reliance retail, Colgate, and all have visited companies visiting is also subject to each year. on average, the packages are at 11 LPA. Mostly all of the senior batches are placed at this point. I plan to do a good internship of 2 months at present and get places in possibly the FMCG or consultancy sector in the field of marketing.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Welingkar's fees for our batch have been raised by approximately 2 lakhs. it is 13 Lakh now from 11 lakh last year. it is easy to apply for a loan for colleges like webinars. Banks like SBI, BOB, etc. provide loans actively to students. The ROI is pretty even with the average package ranging between 9 to 10 lakhs and considering the growth that'll take place after the job it would be easy to pay off the student loan. The internship part is tricky especially if you are a fresher, doing plenty of courses and knowing your strengths to leverage would benefit any applicant greatly. As for scholarships, there are certain qualification criteria that the college requires and I believe scholarships are awarded basis of that.

Campus Life :

There has not been a fest so far. Although events corresponding with different batches are conducted now and then. All in all, life is good, there is a lot more to explore outside college than inside due to the limited space. There is a game room and a gym which facilitates fun. The library to my knowledge is well equipped with books and there is an E-library login access that is given to students, in addition to this teachers provide PDFs of whatever they teach so in that sense I would say reading resources are plenty. Classrooms have air conditioning and lighting, plus a master board and whiteboards. there is a small stage that the faculty uses along with the podium. There are not many clubs here but I have heard that if you can justify the need of having one, you can apply for the formation of a club. Sports events news is circulated by students in all the groups and interested people can join in. There is a TT table, carrom and billiards in the game room.

Hostel Facilities :

I would like to start right away by telling that hostel does not provide food, which I honestly think is unfair. other than that welingkar has limited campus space therefore they have hostels within a 2 KM radius of the colleges. The hostel I live in has all the services except food. AC, fridge, beds, pillows, cupboards, desk and chair, cloth stand, kettle, iron and iron stand have all been provided by the college. The option to opt for a hostel comes during the form-filling process however allocation is based on availability. you also have the freedom to reject hostel facilities if you want even after you have mentioned in the form that you do want one.

Interview Experience :

There was a PI which was scheduled for all students after an extensive form that was required to fill. There was also a psychometric test student were to take from home. the only way I found helpful to prepare for PI or GD's was to read newspapers and different articles of interest (CAT prep certainly helped here). My interview was long with mostly generic topics of my interest and somewhat related to my field. Being an art student was also asked to explain the change in the field, so for any student with a different background, prepare your answer convincingly. The interview panel was friendly and made me feel at ease.

Placement Experience:

Placements are top-notch in NMIMS Mumbai for the course of MBA Business Analytics, it is one of the best in the country. Internships are provided after the 1st year and in the 5th trimester, the final placement drive starts and every student is eligible for it. Many major companies like Yes bank, VI, Colgate, Herseys, L&T FS, Experian, and many more visit the campus and offer placements. The average package is 15.6 LPA for MBA-BA.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are pretty decent at SCMHRD. Our college falls in the tier 2 category. The placement/summer internship process goes on for about a month and there is 100% placement. I've myself secured a job in an MNC

Placement Experience:

Placement is one of the best things in NITIE because of its industrial presence and a long list of Alumni who passed out over the last 60 years there is 100% placement and the average package is rising every year. The packages were around 55 lacs and the jobs and roles offered by different companies were mostly in operations and supply chain roles. There are other rules offered in the GEN man, marketing and finance.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am currently pursuing my course at KJ Somaiya College and I am very satisfied with the education I am receiving. The course curriculum is well-designed and up-to-date, covering all the important aspects of the subject. The faculty members are highly qualified and experienced and the faculty-student ratio is very favourable which gives students plenty of individual attention and support. The teaching method is very effective which makes it easy for students to understand and retain the concepts. The term exams are conducted promptly and are not overly difficult to pass. Overall, I would highly recommend this course and this college to anyone interested in this field.
