YOGESH PHOOLCHAND PARMAR's Review On FMS Delhi Faculty Of Management Studies, New Delhi | collegedunia.com

The Red Building of Dreams

Remarks :

The FMS form was rolled out before CAT and we had a sufficient deadline to fill the form. On the basis of CAT scores, the composite score is evaluated with 40%, 30%, and 30% weightage to VARC, DILR, and QA sections respectively. The college shortlisted a certain number of students based on the composite scores and then an interview was conducted with each of the candidates. Eligibility of course: Any student with a graduation degree or in the final year of graduation is eligible for the course along with a minimum of 50% score in graduation. All details regarding the application form, fees, and dates are available on the FMS website. The interview process was extremely smooth and even the results were declared within a short span of time.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course to get a better business understanding of various industries. Also, it helps me leverage peer and alumni networks and learns under the experience of eminent faculty members. Faculty: The student ratio is around 1:3. Every permanent faculty member is a Ph.D. The teaching methodology at FMS consists of case studies, lectures and even role plays to enable interactive discussion among the students and teachers. There are 4 term exams for a duration of 2 years. With a consistent focus on learning and active class participation, one can score well in exams.

Internships Opportunities :

The 2021-2023 batch had one of the best summer internships placements with firms such as BCG, Bain, Kearney, TAS, Microsoft, Media.net, Atlassian, Adobe, Google, White Oak Capital, DE Shaw, Renew Power, Standard Chartered, Citi Bank, Reckitt, Asian Paints, Coca-Cola, ITC, HUL, Mondelez participating in the internship process. The highest stipend of 5 lakhs was offered by IB/PE/VC firms and an average stipend of 2.62 lakhs.

Placement Experience :

Students are eligible for internships in the first semester and final placements in the fourth semester of the course. Asian Paints, Coca-Cola, J&J, Dabur, ITC, HUL, Adobe, Amazon, Media.net, Microsoft, Avendus, Nomura, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Citi Bank, HDFC Bank, BCG, Bain, Kearney, Accenture are some of the top firms visiting the campus for placements. For the 2020-2022 batch, 262 offers were made to 257 students appearing for placements. For the 2020-2022 batch, the highest and average packages were 58 and 32.4 lakhs respectively in Sales & Marketing, Finance, Product Management, IT, Analytics, Consulting, and General Management roles. 100% of students appearing for placements were offered jobs on campus. My plan is to work in a Sales & Marketing firm and learn under the guidance of top professional managers.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee at FMS for an MBA course is 1.92 lakhs for a duration of 2 years. It is quite affordable compared to the fees charged at various IIMs in the range of 15-25 lakhs. Scholarships: 1) FMS Delhi OPJEMS Scholarship: First 10 toppers in each year of MBA. Financial assistance of 150000 per year. To avail of the scholarship, you need to register on the OPJEMS App and fill out the form. Post the form filling, there is an interview process to select the students for the scholarship. 2) FMS Delhi Aditya Birla Scholarship: Top 20 students are invited to fill out the form. The students are evaluated on the basis of co-curricular and academic performance and essays are reviewed by the panelists for shortlisting in the final round wherein the top 16 students will have the opportunity to be named as Aditya Birla Scholars. Campus placements at FMS are extremely top-notch with an average of 34.2 lakhs for the 2020-2022 batch.

Campus Life :

The FMS library has a collection of 50000 books along with 100 journals, including 60 foreign journals and economic reports and case studies. The classrooms are fully equipped with comfortable chairs (for both left as well as right-handed people), and AC and AV facilities. Sports and extracurricular activities are conducted by the Sports Society and also the Cultural Society throughout the duration of the course. The MSA is the most important student-run body and manages various activities related to infrastructure and organizing events.

Interview Experience :

My Personal Interview was based on my application form and SOP. We also had an extempore round as a part of the process. My extempore topic was "Is OTT a boon or a bane?". The selection component consisted of CAT Score (50%), Class 10th Score (10%), Class 12th Score (10%), Discussion on Statement of Purpose (10%), Extempore (5%), and PI (15%). I enrolled myself in a Telegram group for GD-PI preparation and read news articles, practiced extempore topics, and gave mock PI as a part of my preparation strategy.
