PEC Chandigarh is a Government College. Before it was affiliated with Pune University. In 2003 PEC became deemed university. It is among the most reputed engineering institutes in Panjab. NIRF 2022 ranked it at 87 for engineering. PEC offers B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. courses under various disciplines.

Yes, PEC Chandigarh is a government college. However, during its inception, it was a private institute. Punjab University gave affiliation to PEC in 1931. After the partition of India and Pakistan, the college relocated to Roorkee, India.

As states have been divided after partition, Roorkee was in Uttrakhand. So PEC was shifted to Chandigarh, and since then it is a government college.
