NCERT books cover almost all topics and are sufficient for clearing the cutoff. But you can’t expect decent marks if you are relying solely on NCERT books.
Study coaching modules, standard reference books, along with NCERT, for JEE Main. Also, take plenty of mock tests and practice the previous years' question papers.
NCERT is considered to be a very important book for candidates applying for JEE Mains. They usually cover most of the topics but might not be sufficient. NCERT is very helpful for organic chemistry. Some questions of JEE Mains are directly taken from the NCERT. But if you want to score a good rank, practicing NCERT along with solving previous year’s question papers is a must. They will give you an idea of how the questions pattern.
Maths and Physics fundamentals and understanding of topics is necessary. Do focus on the important topics like derivatives, mechanics, electrostatics, integration and probability. For chemistry and particularly organic and inorganic chemistry follow NCERT texts.
A few chapters which are exclusively present in JEE Mains syllabus where NCERT is a must for Physics include: Semiconductors, Communication System, Magnetism and matter and Electromagnetic Waves.
For Mathematics, solving NCERT will be useful, but also practice from higher level books.
