When two candidates score the same in CAT, they are given the same percentile. Your performance in CAT is basically the number of candidates that you have outscored. Two candidates scoring the same marks indicates that they scored above the same number of students. So, the CAT percentile of two students scoring the same marks will be the same. There are also no tie-breaker rules in CAT.

Here are some of the things that can be helpful in scoring 95+ in CAT.

  • First clear your basics for Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, and Verbal Ability.
  • Once your basics are clear, practice problems from these topics as much as you can.
  • Give mocks at least twice a week. Analyze your mocks and recognize the mistakes you make frequently. Take a note of these mistakes.
  • Reading Comprehension is the most difficult part of V.R. Make sure you are comfortable in this section. If you aren’t, practice.
  • Work on your reading speed. At least 150 words per minute should be maintained.
  • Stay updated with the current affairs and happenings around the world.

For qualifying, IIM Bangalore Cutoff is 85 percentile. However, the cutoff trends indicate that the required cutoff for admission is around 99 percentile for general category students.

IIM Bangalore places significant weightage on work experience for interview shortlisting. If you have relevant work experience of 2 years or more, and a decent academic record, you can expect an interview call even with a percentile lower than 99.

How can I make quants section easy in CAT exam?

PD
Prateek Dasgupta Posted On : December 15th, 2021
lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

You should start your preparation by clearing your basics. After your basics are clear, you should start attempting mocks, to gain accuracy and speed. Analyze each mock tests you give to figure out the areas that you need to improve.

Being good in maths definitely helps in clearing CAT. If we consider data interpretation as a part of maths then the quantitative part covers 2/3rd of the paper. If you are weak in maths, don’t worry. A logical approach will help you clear this section quite easily. You should thoroughly cover topics like number system, percentage, profit and loss, time and distance, etc. A large part of the paper also have algebra, so you need to have a clear knowledge of quadratic equation, functions, logs, etc.

Questions from geometry and coordinate geometry are also asked. So, a strategic approach on these topics is necessary. It’s best to seek guidance from someone who has expertise in these areas to know the right strategy.

Which chapters should I start preparing in the quant section for the CAT exam?

SD
Satyaki Das Posted On : December 14th, 2021

Firstly, you need to give equal importance to all the chapters for preparing for the Quant section. You can start with Number Basics and then gradually move forward with Simple Equations, Ratio, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Geometry, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Progression and Binomial, etc.

For revising and strengthening your Quant concepts, you can follow verified channels on YouTube for your Quant preparation. Quant is a must for any aptitude test.

They mostly talk about the core concepts and also solve related questions which are selected from last year's CAT, XAT, IIFT, SNAP, etc. papers. This will help you understand the basics and usage of the concepts in the related questions.
