How many rounds of counselling are there in the BIT Sindri?

AK
Anuva Kumari Posted On : April 21st, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (2020)

In total there are 3 rounds of counseling conducted by JCECEB. Seats of BIT Sindri fill up within the first 2 to 3 days of counseling. In which students have to be within 200 CML rank to get a seat, OBC (BC-I / BC-II) rank of around 100, and SC or ST rank of around 50. This rank is the average rank which is an annual trend for BIT Sindri.

After all other counseling such as JEE, WBJEE, etc. various allocated seats became vacant because numerous students who scored good ranks in other exams got admission to other colleges.

In such a situation, a spot round of counseling additionally takes place for the vacant seats. If the student got a lower rank and is lucky enough then they can make it to BIT Sindri in that round. For that, the student has to inquire through Online Notice for the Spot Round notification. So, overall there are in total 3 normal rounds and a spot round takes place for BIT Sindri conducted by JCECEB.

Why are colleges such as BIT SINDRI, VJTI MUMBAI and HBTI KANPUR underrated?

MB
Mayukh Bose Posted On : May 5th, 2021
Studied at B.Tech from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (2021)

I have quite a few friends at VJIT Mumbai, so I can speak for the institute. After IITs, it is quite reputed among students. People from outside of Maharashtra may not be aware of VJIT but inside the state being a student of VJIT is a matter of pride.

If we make a comparison of engineering colleges nationwide, it will be IITs from tier-1, followed by few NITs, and after that colleges such as VJIT for the following tier.

VJIT is an old institute with a huge brand value. Many reputed MNCs visit the campus for the placement drive. It is less recognized but ‘underrated’ is probably is the wrong word to describe it.

The following factors are the reasons who most people are not familiar with the institute.

  • It is a state college, that limits its appeal to a great extent. Students, parents, and media all alike give far more important to national colleges/institutions by default.
  • As students outside of the state of the institute do not know about the college, they do not apply and thus the diversity is heavily skewed.

So, VJIT may not have national recognition but it is quite reputed inside Maharashtra.

BIT Sindri is one of the most popular and best government engineering institutes of Jharkhand. To get admission here, you need to study very hard and qualify for the entrance examination conducted by J.C.E.C.E.B with a higher score.

  • After clearing the exam, there will be a counseling process that takes place in 2 or 3 rounds.
  • After that, you have to wait for the admission date after the confirmation and allotment of your seat.
  • The date will be announced on the official website of the institute. During this time you have to keep all the original copies of documents like academics certificates and governmental documents ready with you.
  • These documents will be verified during the day of your admission and after this process, you will receive a receipt showing your roll no. with your stream and your date of welcome.

These are the complete process of taking admission at BIT Sindri and after successfully completing all the steps, you can get admission and start attending classes.

If you are trying to decide between BIT Sindri and KIIT for pursuing CSE or IT, here are a few things to consider before making your final decision:

  • Faculty: Both colleges have average faculty members, which means that your overall learning experience will depend on your own interest and effort in learning coding and other concepts related to computer science.
  • Exposure and Facilities: KIIT offers better exposure to modern facilities and resources in terms of labs, while BIT Sindri may lack in this aspect. However, you can still get decent exposure at BIT Sindri if you are proactive in seeking out opportunities for learning.
  • Placements: In terms of placements, both colleges offer opportunities to get placed in software companies such as TCS, Wipro, Accenture, and IBM. However, KIIT may have a slight edge in this aspect, as you can sit for multiple placement sessions and decide which company to join.
  • Fees: The major difference between BIT Sindri and KIIT is the fees. While BIT Sindri charges a relatively low fee of 90,000 for four years, KIIT charges significantly more (12 to 15 times more).
  • Core companies: If you are interested in core companies in ECE or EEE, BIT Sindri may offer better opportunities compared to KIIT.

Both colleges have their pros and cons, you should weigh the above factors carefully before making a decision. Ultimately, the quality of your learning experience and your career prospects will depend on your own initiative and effort in pursuing your interests in the field of computer science.

What is the best preparation to get into BIT Sindri through the JCECE?

SK
Shefali Khanna Posted On : May 5th, 2021
B.Tech Chemical Engineering & Digital Marketing, Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri (2020)

You should prepare yourself from the beginning when it comes to giving entrance exams. You should believe in yourself and know that things might change. You shouldn’t stress yourself out too much and just focus on what is in front of you.

Here are a few methods that might help:

  • You should use the NCERT books and grasp as much as you can. Learn, remember and understand whatever information you can from these books. They cover all three topics of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • When it comes to Physics, the NCERT books will definitely help you. If you study them properly and get a good grasp on the concepts and have your basics cleared with the formulas learned, you will do well.
  • For mathematics, you can solve all the NCERT books including the exercises and examples with all other miscellaneous exercise questions.

Overall, make sure your concepts are clear. Follow the NCERT book to the core and study well. You may have prepared for JEE Mains which will also be a good booster. You should also practice last year’s JCECE question papers as this will give you an overall idea of the exam.

Is BIT Sindri comparable to NIT Jamshedpur?

SD
Sumona Dasgupta Posted On : March 29th, 2023
Bachelors of technology at National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur

If you're trying to decide between BIT Sindri and NIT Jamshedpur for your engineering education, here are some things to consider:

  • Placements: If you're interested in CSE or ECE, NIT Jamshedpur is the clear winner when it comes to placements. For other branches like mechanical and metallurgy, both colleges have similar placement records. However, NIT Jamshedpur does tend to attract more top-tier companies than BIT Sindri.
  • Quality of education: While the quality of classroom lectures and lab facilities is similar between the two colleges for mechanical engineering, NIT Jamshedpur is generally considered to have a better academic environment overall. The college has experienced faculty members who are committed to providing a high-quality education to their students. In contrast, some BIT Sindri professors may be stuck in old-school teaching methods and not as open to new ideas.
  • Infrastructure: NIT Jamshedpur has better facilities overall than BIT Sindri, including a well-stocked library and modern hostel facilities. Additionally, the campus atmosphere at NIT Jamshedpur is generally more conducive to learning, with students feeling supported and motivated to excel in their studies.
  • Campus life: While BIT Sindri does have a strong alumni network and a reputation for a good ROI, the campus culture can be lacking in certain areas. For example, there are limitations on female students' movements due to security concerns, and college clubs and events may not be as active as in other institutions. In contrast, NIT Jamshedpur has a vibrant campus life, with a range of clubs and activities for students to get involved in.
  • Training and placement: While both colleges have training and placement cells to help students secure job opportunities, NIT Jamshedpur's cell is generally considered to be more effective in securing placements with top companies. However, both colleges face budget constraints that can limit the resources available to the placement cell.
  • Alumni network: While BIT Sindri has a strong alumni network that can be helpful for job opportunities and networking, NIT Jamshedpur's alumni network is also quite strong and active.

Ultimately, if you missed out on the opportunity to attend NIT Jamshedpur, BIT Sindri is still a solid option with a good ROI. However, NIT Jamshedpur is generally considered to be the superior choice in terms of placements, infrastructure, and campus culture.

What is your review of BIT Sindri now?

AM
Ajay Mohapatra Posted On : June 11th, 2021
B Tech. from Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri, 2020

From what I’ve heard from my friend who is currently a student of BIT Sindri, there is ample time for students to prepare for exams like UPSC, GATE, etc.

  • The area of the campus is about 400 acres. BIT Sindri is a good engineering college and is located in the town of Sindri which is 25km from the city of Dhanbad.
  • BIT Sindri has a total of 26 hostels for boys and girls. The different departments of the college are allotted their own buildings for their classes and activities.
  • There is an auditorium on the campus. There have been some reports of ragging, though, in the first and second years.
  • The best departments in the institute by far are mining and metal because of good placements.
  • Lately, a number of good companies are visiting the campus so the statistics of placements are improving by the day. The average CTC has been recorded to be 4.51 LPA while the highest salary is 10.12 LPA.

The institute also holds an enviable rank amongst other engineering institutes of Jharkhand.

According to placement, how good is BIT Sindri for the mining branch?

SD
Sourav Dasgupta Posted On : June 29th, 2021
B.Tech Mining Engineering, BIT Sindri (2018)

Placements for the Mining branch at BIT Sindri are quite good. You will get a fair chance to get placed through campus placement or GATE. The mining branch at BIT Sindri also has a strong alumni base which helps with the placements.

  • Some of the core mining companies that visit the campus drive for placements are L&T, Vedanta Resources, DMT, etc. In order to get selected in L&T, you have to be among the top 15 in the batch. Vedanta Resources and DMT give chances to students provided they have 60 percent in academics and no active backlog.
  • Apart from these, you can also apply for marketing, software companies, coaching centers, etc. as they also visit the placement drive. You can also apply via a valid GATE score.
  • According to the recent statistics the average and highest CTC offered to the students of the mining branch at the institute are respectively 5 LPA and 11 LPA.

If you are good in technical skills and soft skills you have a high chance of getting placed in the mining branch. The rest depends on your skills.
