Should I go for PGDM General in FORE Delhi or TAPMI PGDM BKFS if I want to go in the finance sector?

AB

I feel for Finance, TAPMI would be a much better option because it is good for finances in the Tier 2 league.

But if you wish to explore other fields, such as marketing, operations, or analytics, or if you are not entirely sure of your profession, choose the Fore Delhi PGDM.

Without a doubt, Fore is a top university, and your geographic location gives you an advantage. Additionally, placements this year have been excellent for all tier institutions.

Between IIM Kozhikode and SPJIMR, which is better for an MBA in finance?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : August 18th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Both IIM Kozhikode and SPJIMR offer an excellent curriculum in MBA that is taught by the best and most learned faculty. One of my cousins chose IIMK over SPJIMR because she was inclined toward Finance specifically. Additionally, the IIM tag helped her avail better opportunities.

SPJIMR on the other hand has a few drawbacks that make you want to reconsider joining it. Firstly, it has a triple occupancy room system which may not be fit for everyone. Secondly, its culture is a bit restrictive focusing only on mental development.

Overall, If you are a CA or a CFA graduate with Financial Corp experience, you will be exposed to similar cultures and opportunities on both campuses. But if you are an engineer, you will get better opportunities at IIM Kozhikode.

Ultimately, the final decision is yours to make!

Which is better, Bethune College or Vidyasagar College?

RD
Riyanka Dasgupta Posted On : October 30th, 2021
B.Sc in Economics from Bethune College, Kolkata (2018)

I know people from both Bethune College and Vidyasagar College. According to what I heard from them, I will say the former is better.

  • Bethune is an all-girls college and it is quite strict. If you want good academics with regular classes then Bethune is the right choice.
  • Vidyasagar has union problems too. At Bethune, you won’t have to face such problems as party politics doesn’t exist here.
  • The faculties and the ambiance of Bethune are great.
  • The facilities offered at the college are good. Both the central and departmental libraries have a good collection of books.
  • There are many extracurricular activities for you to participate in.

These reasons make Bethune a better option for pursuing your course.

Which is better, NIT Jalandhar or NIT Hamirpur for ECE?

PT
Pragya Tripathi Posted On : December 19th, 2022
B.tech from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar ( NITJ ) (Graduated 2017)

Because the departments are the same, here are some details about the colleges:

  1. Location: As you are aware, NITJ is located in Jalandhar, which is close to two major cities in Punjab (Amritsar & Ludhiana). As a result, connectivity is better than in Hamirpur, Himachal. Nature lovers, on the other hand, would prefer Hamirpur to Jalandhar.
  2. Campus: NITJ has a 170-acre campus, whereas NIT Hamirpur has 320+ acres of lush greenery and hills surrounding it. In comparison to Jalandhar, Hamirpur has the better infrastructure (though new modern buildings are being constructed in NITJ, which boost the infrastructure of the campus in the coming few years)
  3. Department: The ECE department at NITJ is located in the main block, also known as the Gool building, and the faculty is excellent and dedicated, willing to assist you at any time and out of the way if approached. When it comes to placement, it is excellent, almost on par with cs placements. The crowd in NITJ is very good, but if you don't want to miss out on nature and infrastructure, Hamirpur is always your heaven.

As a result, with a slight advantage in infrastructure and recent rankings, NIT Hamirpur would be a better choice.

Which is better, metallurgy at MNIT Jaipur or CSE at IIIT Kota, IIIT Vadodara?

RR
Rahul Roy Posted On : March 17th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Vadodara (2019)

I personally believe that the upcoming future will be a more tech-savvy and digital world. So, going for CSE/IT is an evergreen choice. And is better than metallurgy engineering.

  • In my point of view, you should start from the bottom line i.e., start from NITs rather than IIITs.
  • Even some NITs in the north-east, like NIT Meghalaya, NIT Silchar, and NIT Agartala are good enough for fields such as CSE/IT.
  • If not, then go for the IIIT colleges which are fully government-funded.

If there is no particular interest and just want a decent job in the future then choose CSE at IIIT Vadodara.

However, on the other hand, IIIT Kota is facing too many issues from faculties.

  • There are hardly one or two teachers with a research background. As an outcome of this what you will study will not have minute concepts it would be just theoretical knowledge from the books.
  • Though being good in coding but that just doesn't justify being in engineering college.
  • The college Atmosphere here is not good.

Hence if you are getting IIIT Kota CSE then you might also be getting some other good NITs and IIITs prefer them, else you will regret it if you are willing to achieve something bigger in life.

What should I join, IIM Ranchi or IIM Indore Mumbai campus?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : May 6th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

IIM Indore has recently been criticized for increasing the number of students in each group. For now, the new location might be risky. Since IIM Ranchi is a growing IIM, I will suggest it. Alternate schools will always have a second chance at things; this is how things usually work everywhere. Also, the quality of the teachers can't be matched 100% by IIM Indore's main campus. Even if the staff stays the same, Mumbai won't be able to copy the culture of the I campus right away.

IIM Indore has more than 600 students in each class, which is almost 2.5 times as many as IIM Ranchi. The point is to study with a group of 600 or more people instead of 240. I say go for Ranchi.

Should I take IIM-Kashipur/IIM-Raipur or take the CAT &/or GMAT again?

AM
Aditya Mahatha Posted On : January 6th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Kashipur

I know this decision is a bit difficult to make. What you need to keep in mind is that these two colleges should not be compared to other great IIMs or even ISBs. Those B Schools are at another level and cannot be on par with Kashipur or Raipur. To facilitate a better decision, I will mention the circumstances of these B Schools then you can choose after considering all options.

  1. IIM Indore and IIM Kashipur: Both these colleges are not worth a year drop as they will help you earn only an extra 1.5-2 LPA. Moreover, in the coming years, Kashipur and Raipur will have almost the same brand value as that Indore and Kozhikode.
  2. IIM Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Lucknow and Bangalore: All these top IIMs are definitely worth a year's drop provided that you are confident enough to cope with the cutoff. All these IIMs consider your academics while selecting so if that is your reason for the year drop I don’t think it will help. There is no surety of admission even after a percentile of 100.
  3. ISB: This one is at a whole different level and is in the category of elite B Schools like UCB, NYU, HBS, etc. The top-notch faculty offers amazing pedagogy at relatively low fees.

CAT is sufficient for IIMs. But if you want to go for ISB, a work experience of 4+ years and a GMAT are a must.
