How good is IIM Ranchi PGHRM?

MK
Manjeet Kumar Posted On : January 12th, 2023
PGDM from Indian Institute of Management Ranchi (2017)

Compared to the older IIMs it is not very good but compared to the newer IIMs it is way better. Its USP is its location in an Industrially rich belt that increases your chances of having an excellent career in Management.

Now if we compare it to the other B Schools, it ranks lower than FMS, XLRI, SP Jain, MDI and JBIMS but higher than IMT, IMI, Fore, XU, GIM, etc. It is better than these B Schools because of the IIM brand.

This program is best for people who want to enter the field of teaching and academics.

Can I get selected at IIM Ahmedabad if I got less in 10 and 99%ile in the CAT?

PK
Priyanka Kaul Posted On : December 22nd, 2022
MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (Graduated 2021)

The uniqueness of IIM Ahmedabad lies in the fact that it does consider low CAT scores also unlike other IIMs. One of my brother's friends got selected even with a percentage of 87 because of his experience as a law professional. However, the case is different for engineering students. IIMA gives less preference to them.

So I suggest you, being a BCOM student, get a good job, gain experience in the field and then pursue MBA when you have a better experience.

Are married students allowed to stay with their spouses at IIM Kozhikode? If not, then can they live outside the campus?

KP
Koustav Pal Posted On : November 15th, 2022
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (2021)

Married accommodation is not readily available on campus, but on request, IIMK can facilitate locating suitable accommodation for students, in proximate areas.

My sister's batch had 2 married students. The institute assigned them an extra room for spouses in the women's hostel. If your roommates are okay with it, then your spouse can visit you for a few days.

Outside facilities are also available for spouses' accommodation. But then the transport expenses will have to be taken care of.

How good is doing FPM in IIM-Rohtak? What are the the future prospects? Is there any scope to work for MNCs after doing this course?

AD
Anuja Dutta Posted On : April 26th, 2023
PGDM from Indian Institute of Management Rohtak

If you are considering pursuing a doctoral program at IIM Rohtak, it is important to have an understanding of the academic and administrative systems in place. While one individual may have had negative experiences, it is important to do your own research and weigh the pros and cons before making a decision.

Here are some points to consider:

  • The academic and administrative systems at IIM Rohtak are designed to benefit one person with political backing. Raising concerns can result in termination threats or other forms of harassment. While this is concerning, it is important to remember that this is one person's experience and may not reflect the experiences of all Ph.D. students at the institution.
  • It is important to thoroughly research the program you are interested in, including the curriculum, faculty, and support systems in place for students. Look up reviews and rankings, and reach out to current students or alumni to get their perspectives.
  • Keep in mind that pursuing a doctoral degree can be a challenging and demanding experience, regardless of the institution. It requires dedication, hard work, and the ability to work independently.
  • However, earning a Ph.D. from IIM Rohtak can open up a range of career opportunities. You can become a researcher or an academician. You may also be able to pursue careers in consulting, management, or other fields that value advanced research skills and knowledge.

Ultimately, the decision to pursue a Ph.D. at IIM Rohtak is a personal one that should be made based on your goals, interests, and research. Do your due diligence, weigh the pros and cons, and make an informed decision that feels right for you.

Is it always good to join new IIMs leaving PGDM marketing at IMT Ghaziabad?

JJ
Jason Jose Posted On : February 16th, 2023
Former Assistant Manager at Union Bank Of India (2019–2021)

When considering whether or not to leave a PGDM in Marketing at IMT Ghaziabad for a new IIM, it is important to take into account the reputation and track record of the institution you currently attend. IMT Ghaziabad is a well-known and respected name in the list of business schools in India, with a legacy of producing leaders.

It is particularly strong in the field of marketing, and therefore leaving it for a new or lesser-known IIM may not be the best decision. Instead, it would be recommended to stay at IMT Ghaziabad and make the most of the opportunities and resources available there.

What are the lowest packages at various B.schools like IIMs, XLRI, SPJAIN, etc.?

AR
Atanu Roy Posted On : July 5th, 2021
MBA BM, XLRI (2018)

The first important thing you must keep in mind while getting admission to any college is that even the best college doesn’t guarantee you a minimum salary package. Placement in companies and salary packages are totally up to you. I know people who never got placed through college placements and joined PSU banks and earn as low as 4-5 lacs per annum even after being from reputed colleges.

Here is an approximate estimate of the lowest package offered at these institutes.

Institute

Lowest salary package

IIM Ahmedabad

11 LPA

IIM Bangalore

8-10 LPA

IIM Calcutta

8-10 LPA

XLRI Jamshedpur

10-11 LPA

SPJIMR PGDM

10 LPA

So, it’s better to stop thinking about the salary package, especially the lowest CTC while deciding on an institute. Decide what you want to learn, what you want to do. If you really got skills in your own field there are a number of companies which will pick you up.

Where do private Indian B-Schools such as SPJIMR, XLRI, and MDI stand in comparison to IIMs A, B, and C? In the long run, can they beat IIMs A, B, and C?

MA
Mayank Aggarwal Posted On : April 25th, 2023
IIM MBA in Finance

Private Indian B-Schools such as SPJIMR, XLRI, and MDI have established themselves as leading management institutes in India and have gained a reputation for providing quality education and producing industry-ready graduates.

When compared to the older IIMs (IIMs A, B, and C), these private B-Schools can be considered as strong contenders. Here are a few points to help you understand where they stand in comparison:

  • Faculty: Both private B-Schools and IIMs have experienced faculty members with relevant industry experience. The faculty at private B-Schools are often known for their industry-oriented approach and real-life case studies, while IIMs are renowned for their research-based teaching approach.
  • Curriculum: Both private B-Schools and IIMs have a rigorous curriculum that covers a wide range of management topics. However, private B-Schools often have more flexibility in their curriculum, allowing them to offer specialized courses that cater to the needs of the industry.
  • Infrastructure: In terms of infrastructure, both private B-Schools and IIMs have state-of-the-art facilities, such as modern classrooms, well-equipped libraries, and advanced technology labs.
  • Placements: Both private B-Schools and IIMs have a strong track record of placements, with graduates from both institutes being hired by some of the top companies in India and abroad. However, IIMs often have an edge when it comes to the highest salary packages offered.

In the long run, it's difficult to predict which institute will come out on top as both private B-Schools and IIMs are constantly evolving and adapting to the changing demands of the industry. Private B-Schools are known for their agility and flexibility in adapting to the changing demands of the industry, while IIMs are known for their strong alumni network and research-oriented approach.
