Why isn’t NIT Jamshedpur even in the top hundredth rank as per the list provided by MHRD?
There are several criteria on which MHRD ranks Engineering colleges/ universities.
According to me, NIT Jamshedpur lacks good academic infrastructure. This is one of the main hindrances in its path to glory. The teacher-student ratio isn’t that good. For a course like B.Tech CSE, the staff strength is not even one-fourth of the student population. By staff I also mean the Associate Professors, Ad Hoc faculties, Lab Assistants and clerks.
But NIT Jamshedpur has a good placement record. The academics of this institution are top-notch. It has given some of the best brains to this country.
There are several other criteria for NIRF rankings. NIT Jamshedpur lags in some of them but performs well in others. It did rank in the top 100 Engineering colleges in NIRF Rankings, a few years back.
NIT Jamshedpur has its own strengths. You should definitely visit the campus and talk to some seniors/alumni. Do not base your opinion strictly on rankings.
Which is better: Mechanical Engineering at BITS Goa/Pilani or IIT Guwahati/Kharagpur?
Both BITS Goa Pilani and IIT Guwahati/Kharagpur are well-respected institutions with dynamic mechanical engineering programs. The choice between them depends on a variety of factors like location, campus culture, available resources, and specific research interests. BITS Goa/Pilani is known for its strong focus on research and innovation, while IIT Guwahati/Kharagpur is known for its strong faculty and resources.
My brother was a student of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Guwahati and I have a few points as to why IIT Guwahati is better than BITS
- IIT Guwahati has a spectacular campus surrounded by natural beauty giving it a resort-like ambiance.
- The accommodation facilities are top both with every student getting single rooms right from the first year
- Your passions and hobbies are given importance and you will find many that share your interests
- Excellent sports facilities
- The Mechanical Engineering department of IIT Guwahati has excellent faculty, especially in fluids, solids and thermal.
A few drawbacks of the institute are
- Its remote location leaves you isolated with no place to hangout near
- The Mechanical branch has mainly boys only
All in all, IIT Guwahati should not be your choice if you want a laid-back college life filled with fun. However, if you are sincere about your career and want to pursue mechanical engineering, IIT Guwahati is the right place for you.
Why is IIM Calcutta known as the finance campus?

What is the minimum average percentile a general student should get on the SNAP to getting into Symbiosis?
There are a number of colleges under Symbiosis Institute. The minimum percentile should be 98% and above in order to get into a top college at this institute. However, the minimum percentile to be obtained differs among colleges under Symbiosis.
SNAP scores are accepted at many Symbiosis Institutes. The percentile cutoffs of some of the top Symbiosis Institutes are as follows:
- SIBM Pune- 98% and above
- SCMHRD Pune- 97% and above
- SIIB Pune- 90% approximately
- SIBM Bangalore- 90% approximately.
These above-mentioned percentiles would be enough for you to retrieve interview calls from the institutes. Your performance in the GD and PI would decide your acceptance in these institutes.

Can I apply for more than one master course at ISI Kolkata?
Yes, you can apply for more than one master’s course at ISI Kolkata but you won’t be able to appear for more than one entrance examination.
- All the entrance exams are conducted on the same day at the same time, therefore you will not be able to appear for more than one examination.
- Technically you can fill the application forms for more than one examination if you are a bit confused at present and want to have safe options. You can apply using two different email IDs to register and make the payments for both of them.
But in the end, you will have to decide which exam you want to prepare for and appear in.
Is IIT Delhi maths and computing a good option if I am interested in CS, compared to taking CS in one of the newer IITs like IIT Hyderabad?
I think institutions are good for students, but being a student of IIT Delhi, I can vouch for it. Opting for IIT Delhi maths and computer is a good option if you are interested in CS as compared to faking CS from IIT Hyderabad.
- IIT Delhi offers better features like a strong alumni network, smart peers, on-campus facilities, and more, excellent academic standards, and research facilities.
- Around 95% of the students get placed in IIT Delhi CS branch every year.
- The highest package is INR 2 CLA and the average brings INR 40 LPA.
- Some of the top recruiters are Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Flipkart.
Which college is good for electrical engineering, IIT Mandi or IIT Ropar?
Both IIT Mandi and IIT Ropar have strong electrical engineering programs and are highly regarded in the field. However, it ultimately depends on your individual preferences and priorities. Some factors to consider may include location, campus culture, research opportunities, and specific faculty members or courses that align with your interests.
From one of my close friend's experience, IIT Mandi is a much preferable choice to IIT Ropar. IIT Mandi shifted to its permanent campus way easier than IIT Ropar and thus has better infrastructure and lab facilities. As far as the faculty is concerned, Rest assured, you will never get to doubt the teaching parity of the instructors of both institutes. The professors take an active interest in research and encourage students for the same. The faculty-student ratio is also quite good. IIT Mandi EE department’s Director himself is from an electrical background.

What is the scope of an MS in management studies from DOMS IIT Madras?
IIT Madras is a premiere Engineering college and all the courses are of premium quality and taught by world-class faculty. Talking specifically about DoMS, it has some of the oldest and most highly experienced faculty who are very cooperative and guide the students throughout their journey.
IIT Madras faculty are experts in their area of specialization mainly because my cousin was an M S - Mech student, and had to audit classes, with the Consent Of Teachers in the Management Studies department. She was fortunate enough to avail the opportunity to teach in DoMS. She was impressed by the faculty of the department and shared her wonderful experience.
Not only in academics but the department is also known for its valuable research work done by MS students. Many students even opt for Ph.D. after completing their MS. IIT Madras’ Central Library is no joke given the huge variety of books and unique research materials. It runs 24/7 and one can even photocopy necessary material for research purposes.
Without further hesitation, go for MS at DoMS IIT Madras and you will realize how wonderful a decision it was.
How effective is the HR analytics course from IIM Rohtak for a fresher?
My cousin recently completed the HR Analytics course from IIM Rohtak. He claims that the curriculum and the pedagogy are amazing and its highlight was the final visit to the campus prior to the completion of the course.
This course is suitable if
- If you already are working somewhere and have enough experience
- If you have completed your regular studies and are just looking for a program to advance your career
This course is not suitable if
- You have enough time and potential for higher studies
- You are not planning to work in the near future
In either case, it’s better if you go for a regular program than a part-time correspondence course.
