Sumona Dasgupta Posted On : September 6th, 2023
Bachelors of technology at National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur

NIT Jamshedpur does not release the branch-wise recruiters so it’s difficult to determine the number of companies that visit NIT Jamshedpur for EEE specifically. The placements this year though witnessed major recruiters like

  • L&T, BPCL
  • HPCL
  • Afcons
  • Adobe
  • Maruti Suzuki
  • Hero Motocorp

A few past recruiters that my friends in EEE told me about are JSW Bellary , Bhushan Power & Steel, Tata Steel P&D, Burohappold, Boeing India Pvt ltd.

What should I choose, NIT Trichy or Warangal Metallurgy or NIT Patna CSE?

A
Admin Posted On : May 24th, 2024

I would suggest you choose NIT Trichy for pursuing CSE. NIT Trichy is the best among all the NITs. If your interest lies in materials or metal, then Metallurg is a good choice. Among all the NITs, NIT Trichy stands out for its continuous effort towards providing quality education to the students. NIT Trichy is known for its vast alumni network and industry connection which will help you to network with people from different walks of life.

In NIT Trichy, you will have the motivation to grow your career in terms of deciding to be an entrepreneur or pursuing higher studies. The Metallurgy department of NIT Trichy is old and is well established with experienced faculty who have many years of experience. The faculty makes sure that the students not only learn about the subject but have a practical understanding of the subject and its various domains.

Does B.Tech. percentage matter during placement at NITIE for PGDIE, as I'm just having first class (aggregate of 4 years)?

PT
Piya Tanugula Posted On : August 18th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

One of my close friends was a student of NITIE Mumbai. According to her, the admission process of NITIE has two steps.

  • The first step is to attain a good aggregate in the GATE to get a call.
  • The second step is the GD and Interview round, which helps in the conversion of the call when cleared.

Like most colleges, NITIE follows a decent distribution of the marks. The distribution is - Entrance Exam(in percentage), Group Discussion/Personal Interview, Under-Graduate Exam(in percentage), 12th Exam(in percentage), 10th Exam(in percentage) and Work Experience(If any).

Although these factors are responsible, nobody can tell how particularly these factors affect admission. But in the interview, the student would be asked for the reason for attaining fewer grades in graduation. Therefore, the student should be prepared for that in advance with a logical and sensible answer.

In the placements, the shortlisting procedure is very unpredictable and therefore it's very difficult to say whether or not the grades will affect the shortlisting process. But the fact is that the NITIE has 100% placements and hence a student need not worry about the placements.

How is the M.Tech (civil branch) at NIT Patna if the ESE and GATE preparation is the primary concern?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : September 1st, 2023

One of my friends has completed his BTech from NIT Patna. I have an idea about the academic environment and placement opportunities at NIT Patna.

  • MTech program has a relatively light workload giving you enough time for other things.
  • The academic opportunities are limited for MTech students but plenty for BTech students.
  • Faculty comprises friendly and learned professors. However, you will have to resort to self-study at some point.
  • The NIT tag helps you in the initial stages of your career.

Overall, completing MTech from NIT Patna might offer excellent opportunities. The government of India also encouraged the researchers by its schemes directly from NITs. You can also opt for academia and become a teacher or start working in a PSU. The institute will provide you with enough time and opportunities for civil services or IES,

How is M.Tech Bioprocess Engineering at IIT Madras?

AS
Arati Sinha Posted On : March 31st, 2023
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

M.Tech Bioprocess Engineering specifically revolves around Mathematical concepts and even contains concepts related to engineering mathematics. It is most suitable for those who study Engineering Mathematics in their Bachelor's program. For those with only GATE-level Math knowledge, it might be difficult to cope and you might even end with a low CGPA.

Some core subjects that contain tough Mathematical concepts include

  • Transport Phenomenon
  • Thermodynamics in Biochemical Engineering
  • Bioprocess Control
  • Downstream Processing

Additionally, there are assignments related to coding in MATLAB in Thermodynamics and Bioprocess Control which are very challenging unless you find good assistance by your friends or seniors.

The coursework also contains projects in both dry and wet labs. The former is related to modeling/simulation/coding either in MATLAB or Python while the latter are experimental projects conducted in labs.

The specialization is still in its infancy and has very few core companies coming for placements. Some core companies that visited in the past few years are

  • Perfect Day (INR 6 LPA)
  • Syngene
  • String Biosciences

However, non-core opportunities are plenty with first from various sectors like analytics, finance, and software offering great packages provided you have basic computer science knowledge.

Some advice for a prospective ISB Hyderabad exchange student is given below:

  • It is recommended to enroll in a two-term exchange program at ISB Hyderabad, as one term may not be sufficient to fully experience everything the school has to offer.
  • Participating in events organized by the International Office is an excellent way to make friends and establish long-lasting networks.
  • Do not become overwhelmed by the curriculum pressure and workload; try to stay focused and attentive in class, and you will be well on your way to success.
  • Make an effort to interact with people from different communities and cultures, in addition to the Indian student population. Joining clubs and attending events is a great way to do this.
  • Form study groups that are diverse and international in nature, as this will provide you with a more varied perspective on the subjects you are studying.
  • Be punctual and respectful, as you will be representing your country during your time at ISB Hyderabad.
  • Don't hesitate to chat with professors after class and during breaks, they are friendly and open to discussing a wide range of topics. They may also ask you questions about your country, so be prepared to provide insightful responses.

Do you think ISB Hyderabad charging 30+ Lakhs as fees for an MBA is justified given the fact that the institute is not approved by AICTE or UGC?

JS
Jigar Shah Posted On : February 7th, 2023
Studied at Indian School of Business (2018)

Before I share my sister's experience let me clarify something. Corporations do not care if the Institute you pursued MBA from is AICTE or UGC approved or not. They consider MBA degrees as diplomas and titles attached to the candidates for namesake only.

My sister wanted to become a professor at a university. In that light, she cleared NET and applied to DU. But they did not accept her as she did not have an MBA degree. They suggested she get one from a prestigious B School like IIM Ahmedabad. She right away changed her mind about becoming a university professor. So from her experience, we can derive the following conclusions

  • Even the top IIMs don’t grant degrees but diplomas. The fact that they are AICTE-approved or not rarely matters. It’s just the name of the Institute that matters.
  • If you are inclined towards a profession that requires a degree or recognition from top B schools like IIMA, only then the degree and the institute's worth become important. Most recruiters don’t care if the institutes are recognized by AICTE or UGC or not.

So look at other factors while considering if the high fees are worth it or not rather than the Institute’s accreditation.

Is NIT Jalandhar is better than IIT Mandi?

RL
Rishabh Luthra Posted On : January 5th, 2023
B. Tech. in Electrical Engineering & Flight Controls, Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi (Graduated 2013)

It is determined by the student's personal capabilities. A person can excel in a regular college while failing to demonstrate his intellectual worth in a high-ranking IIT.

The number of opportunities available to students at IIT Mandi is enormous. If you want to make the most of your engineering education, IIT Mandi is the place to be. In Mandi town, there are no distractions for a student's life. Having said that, there are no facilities that IIT Mandi students do not have access to.

Which would be the best option, CSE in RVCE vs EEE in NIT Surathkal/Rourkela/Calicut or ECE in BITS Goa? I am not very keen in computer science but I am looking for good placements.

Computer Science Engineering at IIT Madras (2020)

You should definitely go for NITs. NITs will offer a better crowd, alongside good alumni networks. NITs also often come with a better campus and comparably lesser fees. The major upside of choosing NIT is it comes with a cooperative faculty and provides placement in various core companies, making both EEE and ECE courses quite good as a choice.

Moreover, every NITs offer multiple opportunities and has better fests. On the other hand, BITS Goa is reasonably expensive.

If you are interested in CSE, then opting for RVCE can be better. And your second choice about opting for EEE or ECE at NIT Surathkal or Rourkela can be a decent decision as well.

You should choose the institute that is close to your residence and finalize your decision after considering every relevant factor alike.
