To get admission into VNIT Nagpur, one has to acquire quite a high rank in JEE Mains. This is especially true for general category candidates.
In 2023, the B.Tech CS cutoff rank was 6916 (for home state) and 7087 (for other states). (This was the cutoff for open category, gender neutral seats). To be in the top 1% for an entrance exam that sees the world’s largest number of applicants, is a big deal.
Thus, it is pretty safe to say that only good students make it to VNIT for their engineering studies.
No, You cannot take M.A. in Journalism at Calcutta University without an Entrance Examination. Admission is through counseling based on the marks obtained in Calcutta University Entrance Exam.
The eligibility criteria for MA in Journalism at Calcutta University are as follows
To get admission to the course, students are required to clear entrance exams conducted by respective colleges and universities. Calcutta University too conducts its own entrance exam and unless you clear that, you cannot get admission to MA Journalism.
While many may discredit IIM Raipur because it is not an old IIM, I will still choose it over IIT Madras DoMS. My preference is based on the following reasons
To get a deeper insight into the credibility of IIM Raipur try comparing the companies that visit the campus with that of IIT Madras.
If a university issues a certificate to a student who passed a written examination in a state other than the university's territorial jurisdiction. For example, if a state university grants admission and conducts exams in another state, the results will be invalid under UGCC regulations.
For example, Andhra University (state university) should not conduct examinations outside of Andhra Pradesh.
If it is done in this manner, the certificate will be invalid. As a result, it is one of the reasons why IGNOU does not admit students with such certificates.
If there is a court case against the university that issued the certificate, IGNOU will not grant admission based on that certificate. As a result, IGNOU has stringent UGC admission requirements.
First of all, congratulations on getting admission at MNNIT Allahabad. As a student of MNNIT, I find myself eligible to answer your query.
There is no point in worrying about ragging. Our college has zero ragging. The seniors of MNNIT are very friendly. All they require is to be addressed as ‘Sir/Ma’am’ by the juniors, and to be treated with respect. The club auditions for ‘Swagat’ (the college freshers’) begin on the first weekend. The selections for various clubs/societies are handled mostly by second and third year B.Techs.
During selections, your seniors might act strict and serious, but this behavior lasts only a few days. Once they get to know you, they will help you in every way possible. The seniors carry experience, so be respectful and polite towards them. They will give you valuable advice related to academics and extracurriculars. MNNIT Allahabad has much stricter rules against ragging, in comparison to other top NITs.
Make the most of your stay at MNNIT, and don’t be afraid of ragging at all.
I completed my B.Tech CSE from MANIT in 2018. So my first day at MANIT Bhopal was a long while ago. However, the memories of that day are still fresh in my mind.
This is how that day went-
We had to stay at the Faculty Guest House (FGH) as the rooms of H1 and H2 were completely filled. It was a pleasant day, and the weather was cool. Neither was it raining, nor was it humid.
We reached the college auditorium for the Orientation Program in a queue. The director addressed us, and congratulated us on getting into one of the premiere institutes of India. After that, we went for a department visit. Our reactions were mixed. We were happy with certain things, and completely taken aback by others.
It was a memorable day, and I’ll forever cherish the first day I entered my alma mater.
I would like to congratulate you for getting into NIT Patna for your CSE. The first-year curriculum isn’t difficult and you can easily score a good CGPA.
The tips I’m going to share below will really help you, given that you religiously follow them-
I hope that you have a great time at NIT Patna and make lifelong memories on campus.
The department of Biological Engineering at IIT Madras is located in the newly built building of the institute and thus has world-class infrastructure and facilities.
Despite mediocre placements, this placement is best suited for those keen to pursue this field sincerely and has some of the most learned professors in the institute. The well-structured curriculum of the department makes the students capable enough to avail higher study opportunities at foreign universities. The course also provides a semester exchange program.
Only a few core companies offer jobs in the biological department but students rarely go unplaced due to the abundant non-core job offers. You can get jobs in any sector of IT/Finance/Consultancy even if you belong to the Biological department. This is the best part of IITs. The job prospects are not limited to the branch and you can explore various sectors and opportunities are in plenty. So, this department is not a bad choice and can offer you the best opportunities.
Yes, you will get opportunities at IIT Madras to pursue internships in foreign universities provided that you have your faculty advisor’s permission since you are working under his guidance.
If he is a reasonable man, there is no justified reason to stop you from going for internships. Try to make your point clear and tell them you are willing to get more exposure. Your guide is a knowledgeable person and won’t deny your request if you approach him with a reasonable stance.
However, in case he suspects your work to suffer because of the internship, he may stop you. If you haven’t met the work standards he has set or have dissatisfied him in some other way, be ready to get reprimanded. But this is a very rare scenario as an internship offer is as beneficial to him as it is to you.
As a potential student, you should be aware of the establishment years of the preferred institutes in Mumbai. The following are the establishment years of the institutes in Mumbai:
It is important to note that this list only includes pure B-schools and excludes TISS for Social Sciences (1936) and NITIE for Industrial Engineering (1963).
Establishment year is not necessarily an indicator of the worth or popularity of an institute, as demonstrated by the relatively young Indian School of Business (ISB) which has gained a strong reputation in just 22 years. However, a longer establishment period can provide an institute with a head start, a larger alumni base, and increased brand awareness.
In terms of the admission process, the establishment year of an institute is not a determining factor. This year, the process was the same for all institutes, with students admitted based on their score on the Common Entrance Test (CET). A score of 99.85+ would generally get you into JBIMS, while a score of 99.8 might result in admission to Sydenham. The difference between these scores is negligible and does not necessarily indicate a difference in ability or aptitude.
JBIMS has maintained a strong ranking for a long time and is expected to continue to do so in the future. It is unlikely that Sydenham will surpass JBIMS in terms of ranking. However, if JBIMS were to move away from the CET centralized process, Sydenham would likely become the top institute based on CET scores alone.
There are some differences in the environment and atmosphere at JBIMS versus other MMS offering institutes. JBIMS has a unique reputation, which is partially due to the work of its alumni in the industry, and partially due to the fact that some professors only teach at JBIMS and do not teach at other institutes. As a result, each year, several students from SIMSREE take the CET again in an attempt to get into JBIMS.
Ultimately, what matters most is what you do with your admission to an institute, rather than the institute itself. Getting into JBIMS and not performing well in life is not meaningful. Instead, you should focus on identifying yourself within two years and becoming better than the crowd, regardless of the institute you attend. Whether at JBIMS or Sydenham, you can strive to be at the top of your academic game, take on internships, and pursue certifications to enhance your career prospects. The tag of your institute may matter for a few years, but it is ultimately up to you to make the most of your corporate career.
