Which is the best branch in NIT Raipur among mechanical, civil and electrical in terms of placement, faculty, curriculum, etc.?

KS
Komal Sharma Posted On : April 1st, 2021
B Tech Information Technology, National Institute of Technology, Raipur (2020)

All of the mentioned branches are core branches and are somehow interlinked by areas like automobiles, structures, and circuits. If you are eligible for all of these then it's better to sort your preferences now.

You should take time and decide which one among them holds your interest the most. This is quite important because your passion and interest will impact these 4 years and your career too. However, in case you share an equal interest for all the three branches, then mechanical is the best choice. Here’s why:

  • Mechanical engineering is one of the best branches not only in NIT Raipur but in all the NITs of India too.
  • The faculty of the mechanical department is quite good.
  • The branch is also best in terms of placement and opportunities both in and out of campus.

The following table shows the placements statistics for Mechanical Engineering at NIT Raipur:

Total Eligible Students

86

Total Placed Students

78

Placement Percentage

90.69%

Average CTC

9.5 LPA

It's high time to choose the one branch which seems the most fascinating to you and can devote all your hard work into. At last, the right pool of interest is the key to the foundation of your career.

Is it better to study the CSE branch at 2nd generation IIT like Patna, Bhubaneswar, or prefer mechanical engineering at Roorkee, Guwahati, or Kharagpur?

A
Admin Posted On : June 28th, 2024

2nd gen IITs like Patna and Bhubaneswar are comparatively lower ranked than Roorkee, Guwahati or Kharagpur. However, they are making continuous progress in terms of both academics and placements. Computer Science Engineering requires basic infrastructure, which is well provided at these 2nd gen IITs.

Here are the 2023 B.Tech CSE placement statistics at IIT Bhubaneswar:

Particulars Statistics (2023)
Average Salary INR 25.18 LPA
Highest Salary INR 55.75 LPA
Median Salary INR 20.31 LPA
Lowest Salary INR 9 LPA
% Batch placed 100 %

As evident from the table above, IIT Bhubaneswar records quite decent placements in B.Tech CSE, which is equal to (and sometimes more than) the placements of lower branches at top IITs.

Thus, I would recommend you opt for CSE at 2nd gen IITs like Patna and Bhubaneswar over choosing a lower branch at top IITs like Roorkee, Guwahati, Kharagpur.

Does NITRaipur CSE or NIT Durgapur CSE have good placements?

GJ
Gagan Jain Posted On : April 21st, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology Durgapur

CS certainly holds more importance compared to IT in all the reputed engineering institutes irrespective of everything else.

IT at NIT Raipur is a good enough option to choose especially because of its HOD. He is very sincere and too much dedicated to the students and their well-being. Unlike many other departments and colleges of our country, he takes a special interest and personally looks into every student’s growth and academic performance. Starting from the appointment of the teachers for the various subjects to the handling of the detention lists, he does it all.

Moreover, the faculty here at NIT Raipur is overall a young group of teachers, which basically means they are way more enthusiastic and energetic. A couple of teachers from other departments also take a few subjects here at times.

Even the placements are quite well known here and although placements eventually depend on your throughout performance and scores. The following table shows the placement statistics of both institutions:

Particulars

NIT Raipur CSE

NIT Durgapur CSE

Average CTC

9.5 LPA

9.09 LPA

Total Offers

82

72

Placement Percentage

91.1%

83.33%

The environment offered to all the first years is much protected and they strictly follow a zero ragging policy. Seniors here are too welcome and supportive which ensures that all the students feel absolutely safe and secure.

Why did you choose PDPU over Nirma University for a B.Tech?

PC
Priyanka Roy Chowdhury Posted On : July 27th, 2021
Studies EEE at Jadavpur University 2023

One of my friends chose PDPU over Nirma University for a B.Tech. Some of the reasons as to why he chose it are as follows,

  1. He was particularly interested in pursuing CSE but because of a slightly lower rank in the ACPC, he was not eligible for the CS branch in Nirma University.
  2. The pattern Nirma University follows is like a school pattern. To add to that, there are a lot of restrictions that the institute commonly follows. For example, YouTube and similar websites are banned on the premise.
  3. The major downside is that you can avail of no hostel accommodation.
  4. As my friend also mentioned, he chose PDPU over Nirma University because the clubs in the institute are not highly functional as well. You might require needing to plan out extremely well only to conduct a small event.

Other reasons why you should choose PDPU,

  1. You can receive good and in fact, high placements.
  2. You will have access to receiving good job offers that are particularly high paying.
  3. The introduction of a high fee structure usually means that the institute has something crucial either in the Resources or in the Infrastructure. Mainly, your study pattern is commonly associated with the resource and atmosphere of the institute, and not entirely upon the professor.
  4. You will have senior guidance.
  5. The president of the institute is Mukesh Ambani, which can give a sharp edge.

Hope this helps you know better, all the best!

What should I choose between IIIT Sri City, IIIT Una, IIIT Trichy, IIIT Kota, IIIT Kottayam?

RS
Rana Mukesh Singh Posted On : April 7th, 2021
B.Tech. Computer Science Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu

IIIT Sri City, IIIT Una, IIIT Trichy, IIIT Kota and IIIT Kottayam are new IIITs. These were established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. These IIITs, even though new, are a brand and the education quality in all these IIITs is almost the same. The only difference between these IIITs is their mentoring institutes and the institutes where they run or operate.

  • IIIT Hyderabad mentors IIIT Sri City and runs in IFMR (Institute for Finance and Management Research), currently.
  • NIT Hamirpur mentors IIIT Una and also, it is the institute where IIIT Una is temporarily running.
  • NIT Trichy is the mentor of IIIT Trichy and also the institute where IIIT Trichy runs from currently.
  • MNIT Jaipur mentors IIIT Kota and it is also the temporary campus of the same.
  • Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) mentors IIIT Kottayam and is the temporary campus of the institute as well.

Hopefully, this will help you make a decision.

Which is better, IT at NIT Kurukshetra or CSE at PEC Chandigarh?

MA
Madhav Aneja Posted On : September 1st, 2023
Lived in Chandigarh, India

One of my cousins was in a similar dilemma last year when she had to choose between PEC and NIT Kurukshetra. Both the colleges are premier engineering colleges offering excellent education and are head-to-head in most factors. However, you may want to consider the following points before making the final decision

  • In terms of placements and the faculty pool, PEC fares better than NIT Kurukshetra.
  • Established in 1928, PEC has a richer legacy than NIT Kurukshetra which was established around 1963.
  • NIT Kurukshetra has a bigger and more beautiful campus than PEC.
  • NIT Kurukshetra offers the much coveted NIT tag which PEC does not.

The final decision depends on personal factors like location and future prospects. If you are from Chandigarh choosing PEC will be better.

Which one should I choose, BITS Pilani for mechanical or IIIT Allahabad for IT?

SA
Sandesh Anwar Posted On : March 9th, 2021
B.Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad

Firstly, you should know that there is no difference in the facilities and reputation of the colleges, Although BITS ranks better as an engineering school. BITS Pilani ranks #30 on NIRF's Engineering rank list and IIIT Allahabad ranks #103 on the same. But you should focus on your monetary capacity in consonance with your future plans before applying.

My cousin studied at IIIT A and the following points are based on his experience:

  • IIIT A is an excellent place to study coding. The classes are good although the syllabus has to be maneuvered because it's tough. You can manage it through attention in the classroom.
  • Attendance is an important part of the academic process here because IIIT A has a 75% mandatory attendance rule.
  • Without a doubt, BITS has a higher fee range as compared to IIIT A, about 7 LPA for a 4-year program.

Here's a table comparing both institutes:

Parameters

BITS Pilani Mechanical

IIIT Allahabad IT

Tuition Fee (INR)

1.59 per semester

62,500

Average Salary(INR)

4.5-5 LPA

20.83 LPA

Highest Salary(INR)

6 LPA

43 LPA

Top Recruiters

Brahmos, Tata Tech, Hero and Michelin

Adobe, Aakash, Accenture, American Express etc

Lastly, if you love the mechanical stream and are truly motivated to study Maths and Physics then you must go for it. Mechanical is a vast field as well because you'd learn everything related to mechanical processes and even production scheduling. So clearly check your interests and goals before deciding.

Which one is better to choose Jadavpur University in civil engineering or Kalyani Government College for CSE?

DT
Dev Taneja Posted On : October 4th, 2021
BE Materials Science and Engineering & Computer Science,Jadavpur University (2018)

Civil Engineering and CSE are the trendiest branches as reckoned by the leading companies. If you will opt for a better college over a preferred branch for pursuing engineering then it is suggested to switch your opinion.

Seeing this, you must choose Civil Engineering at Jadavpur University over KGEC. Following are the reasons for choosing the same:

  • The faculty at Jadavpur University is comparatively better than Kalyani Government College. They are well-experienced and most of the faculty members hold a doctorate degree.
  • The student crowd at JU is helping and competitive. One of the main highlights is the students’ club in the university. You will receive good exposure.
  • Although the placement scenario for the civil industry is deteriorating in the entire nation, it is still better to take it up at Jadavpur University than Kalyani for CSE.
  • The mass recruiters are mainly limited to companies such as TCS, Infosys, etc. at Kalyani. Whereas in JU, you would be able to opt for financing and consultancy firms as well. They certainly provide contenting packages.

It is suggested that you choose your preferred stream if you ultimately have planned on pursuing higher studies like GATE, GRE, etc. If you are planning on doing MBA or some job then JU would be the best fit.

You should keep in mind that the name tag of your undergraduate institute always stays with you hence choose wisely.
