All of the mentioned branches are core branches and are somehow interlinked by areas like automobiles, structures, and circuits. If you are eligible for all of these then it's better to sort your preferences now.
You should take time and decide which one among them holds your interest the most. This is quite important because your passion and interest will impact these 4 years and your career too. However, in case you share an equal interest for all the three branches, then mechanical is the best choice. Here’s why:
The following table shows the placements statistics for Mechanical Engineering at NIT Raipur:

Total Placed Students |

It's high time to choose the one branch which seems the most fascinating to you and can devote all your hard work into. At last, the right pool of interest is the key to the foundation of your career.
2nd gen IITs like Patna and Bhubaneswar are comparatively lower ranked than Roorkee, Guwahati or Kharagpur. However, they are making continuous progress in terms of both academics and placements. Computer Science Engineering requires basic infrastructure, which is well provided at these 2nd gen IITs.
Here are the 2023 B.Tech CSE placement statistics at IIT Bhubaneswar:
Particulars | Statistics (2023) |
---|---|
Average Salary | INR 25.18 LPA |
Highest Salary | INR 55.75 LPA |
Median Salary | INR 20.31 LPA |
Lowest Salary | INR 9 LPA |
% Batch placed | 100 % |
As evident from the table above, IIT Bhubaneswar records quite decent placements in B.Tech CSE, which is equal to (and sometimes more than) the placements of lower branches at top IITs.
Thus, I would recommend you opt for CSE at 2nd gen IITs like Patna and Bhubaneswar over choosing a lower branch at top IITs like Roorkee, Guwahati, Kharagpur.
CS certainly holds more importance compared to IT in all the reputed engineering institutes irrespective of everything else.
IT at NIT Raipur is a good enough option to choose especially because of its HOD. He is very sincere and too much dedicated to the students and their well-being. Unlike many other departments and colleges of our country, he takes a special interest and personally looks into every student’s growth and academic performance. Starting from the appointment of the teachers for the various subjects to the handling of the detention lists, he does it all.
Moreover, the faculty here at NIT Raipur is overall a young group of teachers, which basically means they are way more enthusiastic and energetic. A couple of teachers from other departments also take a few subjects here at times.
Even the placements are quite well known here and although placements eventually depend on your throughout performance and scores. The following table shows the placement statistics of both institutions:

The environment offered to all the first years is much protected and they strictly follow a zero ragging policy. Seniors here are too welcome and supportive which ensures that all the students feel absolutely safe and secure.
One of my friends chose PDPU over Nirma University for a B.Tech. Some of the reasons as to why he chose it are as follows,
Other reasons why you should choose PDPU,
Hope this helps you know better, all the best!
NSIT Delhi is a leading institute in India and ranks 76 among the engineering colleges as per NIRF 2020 ranking. This institute is an excellent place for quality students and offers nearly 100% placements every year.
IIITM Gwalior is a fully IT-oriented institute and ranks 100 among India’s top engineering colleges as per NIRF 2020 ranking. This institute provides 90% placement to its students in top-notch MNCs.

The top recruiters are Google, Cisco, Amazon, Microsoft, Dell, IBM, Verizon, Accenture, Wipro, Flipkart, Adobe, etc.
Both these colleges provide quality education with successful placements. The students pursuing a course in any of these colleges will be an excellent choice.
IIIT Sri City, IIIT Una, IIIT Trichy, IIIT Kota and IIIT Kottayam are new IIITs. These were established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. These IIITs, even though new, are a brand and the education quality in all these IIITs is almost the same. The only difference between these IIITs is their mentoring institutes and the institutes where they run or operate.
Hopefully, this will help you make a decision.
One of my cousins was in a similar dilemma last year when she had to choose between PEC and NIT Kurukshetra. Both the colleges are premier engineering colleges offering excellent education and are head-to-head in most factors. However, you may want to consider the following points before making the final decision
The final decision depends on personal factors like location and future prospects. If you are from Chandigarh choosing PEC will be better.
Firstly, you should know that there is no difference in the facilities and reputation of the colleges, Although BITS ranks better as an engineering school. BITS Pilani ranks #30 on NIRF's Engineering rank list and IIIT Allahabad ranks #103 on the same. But you should focus on your monetary capacity in consonance with your future plans before applying.
My cousin studied at IIIT A and the following points are based on his experience:
Here's a table comparing both institutes:

Lastly, if you love the mechanical stream and are truly motivated to study Maths and Physics then you must go for it. Mechanical is a vast field as well because you'd learn everything related to mechanical processes and even production scheduling. So clearly check your interests and goals before deciding.
UIT RGPV is good for Mechanical Engineering. However, things vary with each one of us.
If you want to prepare for higher studies like MS or competitive exams like the GATE or CAT, it is good because you will get a sufficient amount of time. If not, you will end up working in companies like TCS being graduated in Mechanical Engineering from UIT RGPV.
Check the following table for some brief statistics about UIT RGPV:
Particulars | Stats |
Total fees | 1.24 Lakhs |
Placement percent | 90 to 95% |
Average salary | INR 3.5 LPA |
If you have better options you can opt accordingly. UIT is good for B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering you can pursue.
Civil Engineering and CSE are the trendiest branches as reckoned by the leading companies. If you will opt for a better college over a preferred branch for pursuing engineering then it is suggested to switch your opinion.
Seeing this, you must choose Civil Engineering at Jadavpur University over KGEC. Following are the reasons for choosing the same:
It is suggested that you choose your preferred stream if you ultimately have planned on pursuing higher studies like GATE, GRE, etc. If you are planning on doing MBA or some job then JU would be the best fit.
You should keep in mind that the name tag of your undergraduate institute always stays with you hence choose wisely.
