- BIT Mesra has good labs and other facilities. The Technology Block is dedicated mainly to CSE students.
- The CSE curriculum is interdisciplinary in nature. The syllabus of IITs is closely followed.
- Some hostels are newly constructed while some are a bit old. However, the hostel facility is fine. The mess food is average and the hostel fee is quite affordable.
- The faculty is good but you will have to put in extra effort from your side.
- You can approach your seniors for guidance and preparation tips. Almost all the CSE students are involved in online competitions and the competitiveness is quite high.
- During 2022, the average package for the CSE branch at BIT Mesra stood at INR 19.27 LPA, and the highest package stood at INR 58.33 LPA. Amdocs, BYJU’s, Cognizant, Wipro, Infosys, Daffodil Software, etc. visited the campus for placements.

Is CSAM at IIIT Delhi worth it?
No, CSAM at IIIT Delhi is definitely not worth it. Here is a detailed review of the program as shared by a friend
- Branch Structure: In the first year, students are taught subjects the same as CSE, The course structure becomes challenging after the first year, There are 2 math courses added every semester. In the 4th semester complex subjects like Algorithm design, Abstract Algebra, Differential Equations, and an elective from Physics, Maths, Bio, etc. are included in the syllabus. No core CSE courses like DBMS, CO, or OS are even offered to CSAM students. Overall, there are 7 compulsory Math courses and 5 CS courses. So, out of 15 courses to be done in the last 2 years, 12 are compulsory. 2 are compulsory for everyone and CSAM students have only 1 slot.
- Professors: Most professors are highly educated, and offer extremely challenging courses. Students aren’t asked basic questions or theorems taught in class. The grading scheme is also quite tough for these courses.
- Placements: CSAM placements at IIIT Delhi depend more on individual profiles and skills than the college. Usually, companies dont prefer CSAM students over CSE because they are taught core courses like DBMS, OS, CO, etc. CSAM BTech placement percentage this year stood at 98.44%.
All in all, the CSAM branch of IIIT Delhi isn't a good choice if you are primarily interested in placements. It is futile to study such high-level Math if only your knowledge of Data Structures, OS, DBMS, etc. will be considered during placements. CSAM should be considered only if you are interested in research in applied math.
Is ECE better than CSE in NIT Rourkela?
I am yet to understand the blind passion people possess for the CSE branch including those who have no interest in the field whatsoever. Even if you have a passion for CSE, the NIT Rourkela is certainly not the right place to bring out your abilities in this field. The placements, undoubtedly, are excellent at par with some new IITs. bit NIT Rourkela lacks in other major aspects such as
- Highly underqualified professors. In fact, the majority of the CSE classes are conducted by teaching assistants of professors who have degrees from average engineering colleges.
- Professors have no fixed marking criteria and students face serious issues when marks are deducted unnecessarily.
- The curriculum is obsolete and does not meet industry standards. Students who are serious about academics have to take up MOOCs to learn additional things.
Irrespective of the branch you go for between CSE and ECE, you will witness similar job opportunities and success rates. Most students get placed in huge firms like Amazon, Microsoft, and Samsung. So, choosing the right branch in your case depends on your personal preference and interests.
Which is better for a BTech, IET Lucknow CSE or Banasthali CSE as compared on the basis of college life and placements?
Both IET Lucknow and Banasthali are very good colleges for CSE and offer very good facilities to its students. Having to know some people studying in both these colleges, I can share some details about them which might answer your question.
- In IET Lucknow, students get very good opportunities in terms of internships and placements.
- A lot of companies visit the campus for placements but they select a few deserving students. Make sure you have the knowledge and skills to secure placements.
- Banasthali is also a very good college to pursue CSE.
- The campus is very big and the hostels are well maintained. The placement scenario is better than IET.
- Many top companies like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs visit the campus for placement opportunities.

The better choice is undoubtedly EEE at BITS Goa than ECE at NIT Jalandhar.
NIT Jalandhar is still a developing institute whereas BITS Goa is a well-established institute that has got reputation all over the world. Most of the students have cracked competitive exams like GMAT, GRE, and UPSC, etc with a good rank.
You will interact with people who have appreciable knowledge and you will have healthy competition as BITS Goa don't have caste reservations.
Finally, if you can afford to join BITS then do it if not take a loan and don't worry about returns. You will get them in a year or maybe 2 years. Ultimately the choice is yours.
