Ms. Prachiti Dad is a Student and Member of the Admission Committee of the School of Management and Entrepreneurship, IIT Jodhpur. She completed her B. Com and is now pursuing her MBA. She is also serving as a Market Research Intern for an NGO. Several academic projects in Macro-Economic, Business Studies, Financial Accounting, and Reporting were published by her. She also has received various certifications for Human Resource Business Partner, Corporate Financial Statement Analysis, and Business Process Improvement.

What is your specialization course?

“School of Management and Entrepreneurship provides specialization courses in Finance, Marketing, Strategic Management, Human Resources, Entrepreneurship, and Operations Management”

The foundation for business and corporate curriculum starts in the first year. We get various specialization courses in the second year. These are Finance, Marketing, Strategic Management, Human Resources, Entrepreneurship, and Operations Management. Two unique courses taught on campus are MBA in Technology and a specialization in Entrepreneurship. The core course offered in the first year is common across MBA in technology and MBA specializations. We decide on the elective courses along with specialization at the end of the year. 

What are the positive aspects of your time in SME?

“Interacting with students of various disciplines, diverse backgrounds, and talents in the campus”

The environment of IIT is unique from the outside world. The campus focuses on raising the bar on the learning experience of students. The facilities of the campus are outstanding. We also develop great networks with people from other departments. I found excellent friends who became my little family in college. My favorite memories from campus are interacting with students from various disciplines, diverse backgrounds, and talents. The faculty, Seniors, and peers are highly approachable. It is easy to connect with everyone and solve queries on the campus.

What is your opinion about Extracurricular Activities and values on campus?

“Holistic development of an individual”

The Extracurricular activities on campus are aplenty for the healthy development of students. We have excellent facilities and co-curricular opportunities available right on campus. The huge Sports complex, professional Running Track, Jodhpur sports club, Cricket ground, Basketball, Hockey, and Volleyball courts are available in the college for sports enthusiasts. We have a separate building for academic activities apart from the departments and lecture halls. Moreover, we regularly utilize the Library, Auditorium, shops, laboratories like helicopter and robotics laboratories, and the Career Development Cell office for our maximum benefit. The lush green campus is a great place to explore.

How does SME become an ideal choice for management students?

“Curriculum focuses on the fundamentals of analytics, technology, strategy, and entrepreneurship”

The technology meets management along with diversity on campus. A unique mix of elements in technology is seen in the MBA curriculum. It is focused on fundamentals of business and management, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills in the first year. College is a student-managed institute that conducts several activities. The committees take care of the essential functional processes of the institute, and seven clubs shed light on the interests of students.

How would you rate the exposure provided in the SME?

“Provides all the required guidance for the progress of students”

We experience by interacting with technical and managerial experts from various industries and domains. Our passion builds by hearing inspirational talks and attending sessions focused on these industry leaders’ entrepreneurial or executive journeys. It is sufficed to say that students gain maximum relevant corporate, industry, and social sector exposure.

What are the features of the course that you enrolled in SME?

“Dual Degree Program, MBA in Technology Specialization, Industry 4.0 curriculum, and social sector attachment are available in the program”

The course provides features like Dual Degree Program, MBA in Technology Specialization, Industry 4.0 curriculum, and social sector attachment. The campus is a part of an ecosystem in IIT Jodhpur. This supports start-ups, multidisciplinary research focus, and specialized programs in AI and Data Science. 

Have you encountered any academic challenges during your years on campus? 

“Coding, and analyzing data are difficult parts of studying”

I had to put up some extra effort in some parts of academics. The curriculum consists of various subjects and practical case studies. We have multiple data visualization and technology-related lectures in our first semester. I have never experienced coding as a Commerce student. It was challenging at first. I didn’t understand how to analyze the data and visually represent it logically. I took the help of peers and discussed everything in detail.

What are the accomplishments that you are proud of in SME?

“To become a part of the junior Admission Committee in the campus”

I was excited about how my seniors welcomed our new batch for admission. It inspired me to be part of the junior Admission Committee. Our team consists of eight people who gave their best in the recruitment process. It is a great learning opportunity to collaborate with seniors, batchmates, faculty advisors, and aspirants. We welcome every new batch of aspirants on campus.
