Mr. Suyash Shrivastava is a dual degree student of batch 2020-2022 at School of Management and Entrepreneurship, IIT Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He attempted CAT in the year of 2019 and secured 92.92 percentile. He holds a professional experience of three and a half years at Infosys as a Senior Systems Engineer. He has pursued his B. Tech in Information Technology.

What is your area of specialization? Please mention the details of your course.

“I am inclined more towards business analytics”

My specialization is inclined towards business analytics or simply put, analytics. I am pursuing the dual degree program from School of Management and Entrepreneurship, IIT Jodhpur and will be getting my Master of Business Administration degree from here and Master of Science in Business Analytics from George Washington University School of Business, Washington DC.

What are the most positive effects of your time at your college in Washington?

“I have got wonderful opportunities to grow both academically and professionally at George Washington University School of Business”

Currently I am in DC and happily reminiscing about my time at SME. It has only been four months since I came here and it has been a steep learning curve for me academically, as well as personally. Academically speaking, the pedagogy here at GWU and the assignments which we get here have been nothing short of rewarding. The classrooms and the facilities provided, as expected, are second to none and the professors are some of the absolute best in the world. 

Why extra-curricular activities are important in institute in your opinion?

“Extra-curricular activities are an integral part of college journey to keep us healthy physically and mentally”

 COVID has shown us how important extracurricular activities are in academics. Being confined within four walls for more than a year has also shown us how important campus life is for a student. I have always enjoyed extracurricular activities and cherished my campus life.

I joined SME, IIT Jodhpur because of its dual-degree program offering. I always wanted to pursue a career in management and technology and when I came across such a unique offering of dual degrees here, I knew where I had to be. What kind of exposure your college has provided to you?

“Various kind of professional events are organized and it allows us to interact with some of the best minds”

The exposure provided to us by the institute is great. Through the various talks, seminars and events, I got a chance to interact with the industry professionals and learn from their experiences. The exposure which I am getting from my dual degree experience here in DC is also one of a kind.

What are the unique features of the course you are pursuing in Washington?

“We are receiving best education and network support at GWU”

The most unique feature of the Master of Science in Business Analytics program is that it is a very cutting-edge program. The subjects deal with extremely relevant and advanced topics in the domain of business analytics. We get a chance to interact with the GWU alumni and industry professionals which is a great way to network with them.

Have you encountered any particular academic challenge during your years in college?

“It was a bit challenging for me to adjust into foreign education system”

As I said earlier, the pedagogy is quite different from India and at first, it was a huge learning curve for me personally. As I attended more classes and started doing more coursework, I got the hang of it and now I am fairly eased into the curriculum and the academic rigor.

Are there any accomplishments that you are particularly proud of with respect to your time in college?

“I am very thankful for the fellowship which I received from college”

The accomplishment which I am particularly proud of was being awarded the GWSB IITJ Fellowship of $25,225 (~ Rs.18,90,000/-). The scholarship helped me financially and I am very thankful to SME, IIT Jodhpur for giving me this opportunity.
