Prof (Dr). Manish Bhalla is currently serving as Registrar at SRM University, Sonepat. With around 27 years of experience in the higher education sector, he has completed Ph.D. in Chemistry-Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Along with attending and presenting research work in renowned International Conferences, he has received Congress Award, Young Scientist fellowship and was awarded with scholarship from International Association Inflammation Society (IAIS), USA. He is also a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC), London, UK.

How do you strategize about the key plans for the administration of the University? 

“Dual feedback mechanism and outreach programs”

SRMUH believes in quality education and hence we have created a dedicated wing in our university known as Directorate of Admission and Outreach (DOAO), which is responsible for admission and outreach activities. In our university, we have two levels of feedback systems to modify our programs as per industry demands. One is done by DOAO which provides direct inputs about the demands of aspirants and their parents and second, based on expectations of the Industry through Training and Placement Department (T&P). These inputs include the nature of programs, skills required, types of training and mentoring required etc.


What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Research oriented development and greater exposure to students”

The Ministry of Education (MOE) initiated the National Education Policy where the emphasis has been given not only to mainstream teaching but also to create an ecosystem where teaching cum research based approach shall be promoted. This is in fact a great initiative to create well developed, innovative and creative professionals in India. We have come up with the adoption of modern teaching and research curriculum and related projects to align our structure with this new policy and benefit students to maximum. 

With the multidisciplinary approach of the university, SRMUH has already started to give support to strengthen the university’s research and development, and promote researchers in varied fields. We are aspiring to develop a teaching cum research-oriented institution with prestigious International collaborations. Our vision is to create an ecosystem where students will take up academic assignments, get exposed to modern curriculum, world-class research-oriented teaching activities, practical knowledge and skills so that they grow and build into stand-out professionals in their respective industries. We are bringing regular changes in academic delivery, teaching-learning pedagogy, continuous assessment etc based on the guidelines or protocols of regulatory authorities.


What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

“Professional undertakings and huge global collaborations”

SRMUH is imparting professional programs to make students who can serve the society and participate in the nation-building process through their own respective expertise. SRMUH is the first private university in the state of Haryana powered by NASSCOM future skills and thus empowered by our ongoing programs. We have around 42 plus foreign university collaborations, based on three factors - student exchange program, joint research program, and joint collaborative research program. SRMUH has been a known brand since years and conducts all India level SRMJEEE and SRMHCAT examinations on successive time intervals.

Have you introduced any new programs at the university? Please give us a brief highlight of the same?

“Following the path of technological trends”

Yes, to strengthen the Industry-Academia partnership, we have introduced certain programs like Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, AI, Block chain, Data Science, Business Analytics, Mechatronics and Robotics and Automation in Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Faculty of Management Studies since last three years in collaboration with IBM, Xebia and TCS. The main highlights of these programs are flexible academic curriculum, training and skill development grooming by trained Industry professionals.
