Did you avail of the benefit of any reservation?

Parmit Sihag: “General (No reservation)”

Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any)?

Parmit Sihag: “GD was in offline mode in MDI campus. GD consisted of around 12 people. All 12 of us were made to sit in a conference room and given a topic for WAT. We had 10 minutes to write about it. GD was to be done on the same topic. Everyone got their chance to speak about the topic. There were two moderators present, both of them made sure that whole GD never became aggressive. The idea behind the GD is to judge whether you can think about both sides of the coin and put them forward clearly. Whole panel was just speaking about the favors, I was able to make a mark because I questioned the negative parts of the budget and panel liked it very well.”

What was the WAT / GD Topic?

Parmit Sihag: ""Is 2019 budget a political gimmick."”

What were your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively?

Parmit Sihag: “My answer revolved around the policies that were not probable to come true. The new policies that were creating a divide between the rich and poor.”

Describe the general setting of your personal Interview.

Parmit Sihag: “PI was taken by the same panel that took GD/WAT. The duration of PI was around 20 minute. There were 2 people in the panel and both of them faculty members.”

Mention at least 5 interview questions that were asked to you and your responses to each of them.

Parmit Sihag: “It started with the GD performance, they asked me about why I questioned the policies. I put my point forward that both sides of the coin need to be brought into light. Post this, my WAT sheet was brought up and panel asked me that I did not mention any negative points in the WAT why did I put those in GD. I answered that I did not get enough time to cover all the points which is why I put forward the remaining points in the discussion. The next question was regarding what is unique in the current Gas subsidy scheme. I answered that the beneficiaries getting subsidy directly in their bank accounts reduced the corruption that was done by the middlemen. The next question was regarding my work experience, Database administration. I answered that with full confidence. The interviewers further asked that if I had such good knowledge of technical field, why I want to opt for MBA. I answered that I am pursuing MBA to complement my skill set not just to change my field, I will decide the field afterwards. Post this I was asked about Badminton, which I had mentioned as my hobby. The first question was " Is PV Sindhu Punjabi?". I answered no. Second question was "Saina Nehwal belongs to which state?" I answered this as well.”

What was the reason for you not converting to other colleges?

Parmit Sihag: “SPJIMR was the only college that I could not convert. The reason for not converting was the ethics round. The way SPJIMR judges the aspirants is one of its own. The second round also known as ethics round is to check whether the aspirant will choose the right way when put under ethical dilemmas.”
