VIT-AP University conducted virtual Convocation for the class of 2021 on September 23, 2021. Dr. M. Stanley Whittingham, Noel Laureate, Binghamton University(SUNY), USA. Nobel prize awarded in 2019 for the development of lithium-ion batteries was the Chief Guest for the ceremony and delivered the Convocation Address and inaugurates Mahatma Gandhi Block, Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy Block, Savithri Bhai Phule Block, Rock plaza (Student Activity Center).

Dr. G. Viswanathan, Founder & Chancellor of VIT, presided over the Convocation ceremony along with Dr. Sekar Viswanathan, Dr. Sankar Viswanathan, G V. Selvam Vice Presidents of VIT , DR. Sandhya Pentareddy, Executive Director and Kadambari Viswanathan , Asst. Vice President Dr. SV Kota Reddy, Vice Chancellor, Dr. C.L.V Sivakumar, Registrar, faculty and staff in attendance. Out of 460 students, the University presented 10 gold medallists, Two Ph.D.’s and rank holders from Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. Degrees in Engineering and BBA. (BBA-27, M.Tech VLSI-6 , B.Tech (Mechanical)-67, B.Tech (ECE)-120, B.Tech (CSE)-238 Ph.D-2 ) The virtual Convocation followed all the ceremonial aspects of the regular Convocation with Welcome Address by the Vice-Chancellor, a Conferment of Degrees by the Chancellor, Chancellor’s Address followed by the Convocation Address by the Chief Guest.

Dr. G. Viswanathan, Founder &Chancellor, VIT congratulating the alumni and the graduating students along with their families on the Convocation 2021 of VIT-AP University, said, “Graduations and commencement ceremonies mark major transitional golden moments in a student’s life. They celebrate all the hard work you put into your education and achievements and make you look forward to the future with much hope. As we reflect on the past year and unprecedented challenges brought on by COVID-19, we also celebrate all that we accomplished by working together, supporting one another, and keeping each other safe. Learning is a continuous process, and I am sure each one of you has different dreams. I urge each of you to hold on to those dreams and aspirations. Chancellor also mentioned the greatness of Mahatma Gandhi, Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, Savithribhai Phule as the new buildings inaugurated named after them. He also informed that education is vital for removing economical difference and inequality. It’s time to invest on educational infrastructure across the country to compete internationally. VIT always provide vital infrastructure, quality teaching and learning experience in a cosmopolitan environment.

It is first step to next part of your life experience. Travel the world, take advantage of every opportunity, take risks, always connect with your mentors. Grab the opportunity, have dreams, be patient, research will take time. May be one of you will have my experience this what you can anticipate. He also mentioned three important points from his Nobel speech Science is interdisciplinary, Science is International it has no boundaries, Science can solve pandemics Be it Covid are Global warming. India encouraging young scientists. You all should think of clean, safe and healthy environment. This is time to move on with your life. Remember money is not everything and he wished VIT-AP to celebrate many convocations.

Mayurika Singh, Director, Customer Experience & Success, Microsoft India Guest of honour praises the students’ spectacular achievements and said “Be very proud that you are graduating from a top class institution VIT-AP. She shared her graduation and first job experience. Don’t sweat for small things, take chance, learn to work on blank canvas. Do right things for right results. You are the lucky ones who rewrite the history. Your generation can work and live. Finally, she informed build skills and have growth mindset, learn from every experience and hard work has no substitute.

VIT-AP offers Rs.62 lakhs as scholarships to Covid-affected 25 students

Dr. G. Viswanathan, Founder Chancellor, VIT announced INR 62 lakhs as scholarships in the form of a 100% fee waiver for 25 VIT-AP University students who have lost a parent who was the breadwinner of the family due to covid-19 for the current Academic year 2021-’22. These 25 students are pursuing various Engineering & Non-Engg. Programs. During Covid first wave VIT-AP offered to build a quarantine centre and donated 75 lakhs to the AP CM Relief Fund in two phases (25 Lakhs + 50 lakhs) in order to aid the Government efforts in fighting against Covid.

VITEEE goes remote-proctored online mode

Except for a few, most of the engineering entrance tests have been either canceled or postponed this session. The next phase of the Joint Entrance Exam - Main (JEE Main), has also been postponed. Earlier the Class 12 board exams too were deferred. However, the VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) 2021 has been brought forward and looking into the safety concerns of thousands of students, the VIT Engineering Entrance Exam or VITEEE 2021 will now be conducted in an online remote-proctored mode. The candidates will be appearing for the papers from their personal devices from their homes while they will be supervised by an examiner using a web camera. 

The entrance exam will be held now on May 28, 29 & 31.  The online application process is currently underway and the last date to apply is May 20th 2021. According to Dr. G. Kalaichelvan, Director UG Admission at VIT Vellore, management of VIT has been very sensitive towards  the anxiety caused by the cancellation of exams as students have to start preparation all over again.Large number of students aspiring for their engineering courses have already filled the VITEEE applications online for admissions in B.Tech offered by VIT, hence the decision was taken to reschedule the dates from end of June to end of May. 

VIT, which is recognized as an Institution of Eminence by Govt. of India. ‘Deemed to be University’ and ranked among the top 3% of the world's universities by QS Global World Ranking, offers B.Tech with an option to select  from 40 courses and more. The VIT Vellore placements for the B. Tech batch 2021 were also declared on time. A centralised placement process where students from all the four campuses of VIT, Vellore, Chennai, Amaravathi (AP) and Bhopal (MP) participated. Placements and internship offered so far has been 8840, where 5211 Students were placed in close to 650 companies, with a highest package of Rs. 44 lac per annum offered by Microsoft .
