She completed her Bachelor of Technology followed by Master of Technology and Ph.D. She has overall teaching and research experience of 6 years. Being a Faculty of the Biotechnology Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Coordinate Placement activities, Projects, higher education and teaching are my primary duties”

Academic Knowledge and Teaching are not just needed as a responsibility for the students. Apart from that, Personality Development plays a major role. My responsibilities include providing Placement activities, Projects, higher education, and Basic knowledge that is required to fulfill these categories.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty in Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies?

“Follows a friendly approach and gives possible interactions with students to maintain a healthy environment on campus”

Healthy competition within the faculties include Projects,subject handling,patents, Interdisciplinary, Microbiology, and Molecular biology, etc. Everyone's an expert in their own field. In case of any advanced new technology, we are aware of the field from the experts. We follow a friendly approach and professionally aim to upgrade students' talents for attending top companies. It helps them to reach at the highest level and career benefits. 

What kind of programs are conducted to draw the attention of the students?

“Internships, workshops, research facilities and technical events are provided to pupils”

Normally in our curriculum, internship is compulsory. We conduct workshops, and provide internal techniques for pupils. They get more practical knowledge, and conferences to present papers. Review of the paper, visiting the outside colleges and a practical approach are helpful for students. Journals to be written since this is a Research oriented department. We encourage the students to review the articles, blundered teaching and presentations.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education about students from Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies?

“Placements from Pharma Companies ,Medical Transcription, and Software companies are available to pupils”

As mentioned earlier, this is a Research oriented department. So, students are particularly keen on Placement. Companies related to Pharmaceutical,Medical Transcription, and Software visit our campus every year. Most sector chosen by them are LifeScience and Health care. Pharmacy and Biotechnology can be approached. Research and Higher education GATE can be written for foreign opportunities GRE,TOEFL by our students.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world? 

“Provide training, industrial visits and article publication from the students' side”

We give training to the students, and parallel teaching of GATE will commence in the 3rd year to choose Top colleges. They must publish Articles in their 4th year related to various sectors. Reading more papers assists them to gain extra knowledge. Compared to other engineering courses, Biotechnology is totally different from Publishing Research as new development happens day by day. 

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies?

“Admission, and research are the greatest challenges faced by us nowadays”

One of the main challenges faced by us was Admission. Because, students who came in for admission were keen on placement. Research is another difficulty due to lack of immediate results. Once they enter pre final year, they understand its scope and realize that encouragement is very important. During the pandemic, Good admissions were coming in those who are passionate about Biotechnology. But, laboratory practices were missed since Biotechnology is all about research.

When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

“To upskill students' knowledge, higher position in teaching and impart quality education is our primary vision”

Teaching is very competitive nowadays. One of our visions is to get a higher position in teaching. Second one is about upskilling ourselves with patents, our projects and publications. So, we have to think from the students point of view with their doubts.

“Choose your right career and survive in the competitive world”

You must understand and upgrade whatever course you choose for your career. Because, survival in this competitive world is necessary. Students must read and try to implement it in their research .
