Dr. Karthikeyan Krishnan, completed D.Pharm in 2001 and UG degree in 2006 from C.L. Baid Metha College of Pharmacy, Chennai, and PG degree in Pharmacy Practice Specialization in 2008 from JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty under the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, India and received the Prof. E. Venugopal Gold Medal for Best Outgoing student. He has also done MBA in Hospital Management from Alagappa University, Karaikudi, in 2007 and PGD in Clinical Research from Annamalai University, Chidambaram, in 2010 and Ph.D. in Pharmacy from Pacific Academy of Higher Education and Research University, Udaipur, Rajasthan, in 2019.

He was a Speaker at Joint Event on Global Pharmacovigilance and Advanced Pharmacy organised by Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust, UK held in Sydney, Australia in 2018 and received International Travel Grant from DST-SERB, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Dr. Karthickeyan Krishnan has published more than 25 research papers and reviewed for national and international journals. He has 14 years of teaching and researching Pharmacy Practice.

What is the most recent programme that your Vels University/ Pharmacy department is giving that will help students excel and stand out?

"The Pharmacy Practice department of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) programme to those who have completed their secondary education"

And those who have completed their Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) can join PharmD (Post Baccalaureate) course and directly join to the PharmD IV year class.

In addition, we offer the B.Pharm-Practice, a bridge course for D.Pharm graduates who wish to upgrade to a B.Pharm degree after D.Pharm completion and with a three-year experience certificate.

After completing a two-year Master of Pharmacy in Pharmacy Practice, graduates are appointed in both academic and industrial settings.

We invite various specialists from the Clinical Industry, such as Medicine experts, Disease experts, and Diagnostic gadget manufacturers to deliver lectures and demonstrations to the students.


What obstacles did you face when incorporating this programme into your curriculum?

To impart clinical training to students is a challenging task. However, the application is currently operating without any issues.
