Sudhanshu Aggarwal Admission Experience

Did you avail of the benefit of any reservation?

Sudhanshu Aggarwal: “General (No reservation)”

Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any)?

Sudhanshu Aggarwal: “This year because of the pandemic, all the colleges that I appeared for didn't have GD-WAT as the filtering/selection round, and hence, I won't be able to share my personal experiences here. Although, after talks with my fellow aspirants, the performance for GD & WAT is dependent on how well-read you are. Hence, my only piece of advice to the upcoming aspirants, for now, would be to inculcate a habit of reading newspapers and especially the editorial articles which would help one to be acquainted with both sides of the coin of the same topic.”

What was the WAT / GD Topic?

Sudhanshu Aggarwal: “As mentioned earlier, there was no GD-WAT rounds. Although, in one of my interviews, extempore was one of the parts of the and in fact was the first question posed to me in my interview. I was asked to give my opinion on the Farm Laws and its influence on the stakeholders.”

What were your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively?

Sudhanshu Aggarwal: “As mentioned, not WAT but extempore was part of one of the interviews. I was asked to give my opinion on the Farm Laws and their influence on stakeholders. I was given 2 minutes by the interviewer to ponder over the topic. And I must say these are the most crucial 120 seconds of the interview and can act as a make or break for the upcoming questions. My piece of advice would be to have a pen & paper with you for all the interviews, jot down all the points that pop in your head, and arrange them in a logical flow before you answer.”

Describe the general setting of your personal Interview.

Sudhanshu Aggarwal: “General setting in my personal interviews included a panel of 2 or max 3 members, mostly comprising the faculty of the institute or the alumni of that particular institute. Because of the pandemic, my interview was conducted in online mode, and on average, a typical interview lasts for 15-20 minutes. My piece of advice would be to have a pen & paper with you for all the interviews so that if a thought-provoking question is asked you can jot down all the points that pop in your head and arrange them in a logical flow before you answer. For all the questions, it is normal if you don't know the answer, you can politely say "Apologies, will need to check on this" and move on. It is okay to ask the panelist sometime before you answer a question. And SMILE always.”

Mention at least 5 interview questions that were asked to you and your responses to each of them.

Sudhanshu Aggarwal: “Q1 - Views on-farm laws?

A1 - Gave what all 3 farm laws are, who all are the stakeholders affected by these laws, the pros & cons of the laws, and my inspection of the situation

Q2 - India is a service-oriented country but not a product-oriented country. Why?

A2 - Documentation, lack of financial support from the government, shortage of platforms to pitch the ideas and get financial aids from the investors

Q3 - Views on Education Policy?

A3 - NEP Launched in 2020 promised to have holistic development of the students by introducing various courses and allowing students to earn grades from diplomas and finally graduating with degrees of their liking

Q4 - Introduce yourself?

A4 - Typical question. Started with the name and city from where I hail from. I started in chronological order starting from school to college (highlighting that I was part of the core team for my cultural fest) to my work experience (hierarchy followed and outlining a certain key project) and then ended with my hobbies/interests

Q5 - Views on credit cards?

A5 - Was part of interest in my CV and hence the question was asked. Told about the pros & cons of the product and how India and its citizen fairs among different countries and its potential growth in upcoming years"

Mention 3 reasons why you chose this college over other colleges which you converted.

Sudhanshu Aggarwal: “For me, it was IIM Udaipur vs IIM Trichy and following are the 3 reasons in no specific priority -

  1. Udaipur has audited placement reports which instill a certain backing of the data mentioned in their portfolio compared to the vague terms of Trichy
  2. Accreditation, affiliations, and the vision of the director in Udaipur has an edge over Trichy
  3. Friendly and well-groomed seniors with

always #HappyToHelp attitude is the biggest plus in Udaipur.”

What was the reason for you not converting other colleges? (if any)

Sudhanshu Aggarwal: “Was not able to convert IIM Shillong because I could not answer the general awareness questions such as latest trends and activities happening in different states of the country such as Maharashtra (Nepotism), Tamil Nadu (Government collapse in Pondicherry), West Bengal(Elections in the state), etc. I had the interview for this institute within a week of the result declaration and was under prepped and had to start from scratch to prepare for the interview and hope that the questions asked will be from the topics that I read.

Hence, the major takeaway is to please inculcate a habit of reading newspapers on a regular basis and keep yourself updated."
