The IIT Bombay Central Library is a 90,000-square-foot structure that houses over 500,000 excellent collections of books, journals, and non-book material in science, engineering, technology, humanities, social sciences, and management.

IIT Bombay Hostel

IIT Bombay has the luxury of being located in Powai, one of Mumbai's most upscale suburbs. Here, students can study comfortably in peace and spend their weekends taking advantage of city life. IIT Bombay houses 17 hostels. Only shared units are given to IIT Bombay first-year students.

  • Mood Indigo: IIT Bombay's annual cultural event is called Mood Indigo, or MoodI. Every year in December, this festival takes place. In 2022, participants in the 52nd Mood Indigo edition came from all the colleges. More than 1.5 lakh students attended the event in 2022, making it Asia's largest cultural festival.
  • IIT Bombay TechFest: The largest science and technology festival in Asia is hailed as being held at IIT Bombay TechFest. IIT Bombay hosts this festival every December as well. The three-day festival is held on the campus of IIT Bombay. Approximately 1.75 lakh people attended Techfest 2022.
  • Abhyuday: Every year, IIT Bombay hosts a social festival that includes a variety of impactful events, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and competitions to instill a sense of responsibility in the youth towards society and to raise awareness about basic human rights.
  • E-Summit: This year's E-Summit'23 by E-Cell IIT Bombay will be the summit's eighteenth edition, taking place from January 28th to 29th, 2023. Every year, the summit hosts a variety of events for a wide range of audiences, including investors, entrepreneurs, mentors, corporates, enthusiasts, and students.

IIT Bombay has always strived to set a precedent for other institutions by emphasizing the multifaceted development of its students and pushing them to raise the bar by striving to be 'Citius, Altius, Fortius'. With a deeply embedded sports culture and the 'Right to Sports for All' as a cornerstone of its Sports policy, Over the years, the institute has directed its resources towards the development of a cutting-edge sporting complex that can accommodate over fourteen sports.

Furthermore, each hostel has dedicated volleyball, badminton, and basketball courts, cricket pitches and football fields, snooker, table tennis, and foosball tables, and is fully equipped with various equipment that students can borrow.

  • Students can stay in the college's boy's hostels. The hostels have well-furnished rooms to provide students with a comfortable stay. Every hostel has a mess where students can eat delicious food.
  • IIT Bombay hostels provide students with a home-like environment. The hostel rooms are comfortable and well-ventilated. Hostels provide 24-hour surveillance for the safety of the girls. Girl hostels provide all basic amenities.
  • The campus has a hospital that provides general and specialized healthcare to students, staff, and faculty members.
  • Within the college, grounds is a modern gym. It enables students to exercise and stay in good physical shape. The gym has been modernized and upgraded.
  • The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay's central library serves as a knowledge hub for students. Books, theses, publications, journals, and other reading materials are available in the library. The library also has study rooms, a photocopier, and other amenities. Students can also use digital resources such as CDs, DVDs, plagiarism detection software, and so on in the library.
  • IIT provides some interesting dining options. Gulmohar Restaurant serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine. Within the campus, the restaurant provides a more formal setting for meals.
  • IIT Bombay's guest house is made up of two vihar, Jalvihar, and Vanvihar, as well as faculty apartments and guest services. The vihars have amenities such as double bedrooms, computer kiosks, and seminar halls that are neatly furnished, air-conditioned, and well-equipped.
