IIT Gandhinagar Library

The library at IIT Gandhinagar is a portal to the world's most up-to-date information in the sciences, engineering, technology, humanities, and social sciences. The Library, as an integral part of academic and research work on campus, provides information services to support the Institute's teaching, learning, research, and outreach activities by creating cutting-edge facilities and offering innovative services. Putting users first, the Library has been actively involved in designing and delivering need-based information services.

Library services are fully automated and available both on and off campus. The library currently operates from two locations: the Main Library in the academic area and the Mini-Library in the student's hall area, both of which are open for longer hours.

IIT Gandhinagar Social Life

In addition to the rigorous academic requirements, IIT Gandhinagar provides students with numerous opportunities for social interaction and bonding with their cohort. IIT Gandhinagar is well-known for its yearly student initiatives and year-round events. Among the notable events are:

  • Amalthea: Amalthea is IITGN's annual technical summit. It focuses on spreading technical knowledge and instilling in students a desire to develop technology for the greater good of humanity.
  • Blithchron: Blithchron, IITGN's two-day cultural festival, serves as a catalyst for budding talents from various universities, colleges, and institutes across the country.Hallabol: At IITGN, Hallabol is an all-night intra-institutional sports festival. The event's highlight is that it encourages not only students but also staff and faculty to participate in all games.

  • Eureka: Eureka has become a platform for the freshers' batch to showcase their talent and potential since the batch of 2011. Following the five-week Foundation Program at IIT Gandhinagar, the freshers host a cultural evening for the rest of the IITGN community, complete with dance, drama, music, poetry recitation, and other activities.

  • Ignite: An intra-institutional fest held to bring the entire IIT Gandhinagar family together to experience, relive, share, and admire the beauty of technology through fun, amusing activities, and events that will repair the dents that science and engineering cannot be fun, but can be if viewed from a different perspective, and will leave the alluring scars of the fair in the minds of the audience.
  • Jashn: Jashn, which began in 2011, is a three-day intra-institute cultural fest filled with innovative, traditional, and exciting events/games such as art exhibitions, photography and film-making competitions, quizzes, and dance, drama, and musical performances.

IIT Gandhinagar Sports

IIT Gandhinagar had a thriving sports culture. We believe that the sports field, more than any other, tests a person's sense of integrity, dedication, and perseverance. IITGN has always supported sports and fitness because they help to maintain a healthy mind and body. Students must be allowed to choose the sport that best suits their interests and abilities, and they must be given an equal opportunity to excel in it. Keeping this in mind, ample facilities for students to practice and achieve professionalism in their respective sports have been provided.

IIT Gandhinagar Other Facilities

  • For students, the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar hostel has well-furnished hostel rooms with central air conditioning. There are a total of eight hostels in the complex. There are also recreational facilities for students at the hostel, such as a student lounge with a snooker table, TV, art room, music room, and common rooms.
  • The institute employs a well-trained instructor to train students in sports and physical fitness. Volleyball, football, basketball, and cricket are all played on the institute's dedicated court.
  • IIT Gandhinagar has a gym that has been remodeled with a good selection of free weights and machines for a full and complete body workout, with a special emphasis on fitness and a healthy lifestyle. It is open to all IIT Gandhinagar students, staff, and faculty.
  • The IIT Gandhinagar library is home to a growing collection of advanced books and literature for the institute's various fields of study. The library has over 27,000 unique books covering a wide range of subjects.
  • The campus also has eateries for its students, where they can enjoy a variety of foods and beverages. Anytime Fast Food, Amul Store, Dawat foods, and Nutririch offer high-quality food and beverages to campus students.
  • The auditorium at IIT Gandhinagar is available for events and seminars.
  • Canara Bank is located on the campus of IIT Gandhinagar.
  • The Well-furnished Classroom facility is available on campus at the University.
  • The IITGN campus has a LAN network set up throughout the college that connects various departments for synergy. WIFI is available throughout the campus and in hostels for uninterrupted learning.
