CUET Syllabus 2023: Download UG and PG Syllabus, Exam Pattern

CUET Syllabus 2023 for UG and PG program has been released on cuet.samarth.ac.in as well as nta.ac.in. CUET UG Syllabus is based on Class 12th Syllabus. The Syllabus consists of three sections- Section IA and IB consist of 13 and 20 Languages respectively, Section II consists of 20 Domain-Specific subjects, and Section IIII is a General Test Section. General Test Section of CUET Syllabus will comprise General Knowledge/ Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning.

Candidates appearing in CUET 2023 can opt for any of the 13 languages offered in Section IA as the medium of the exam along with English. Candidates can appear in a maximum of 9 tests from the three sections of CUET 2023. However, candidates have the option to choose any Language/ Domain Specific Subject/General Test or a combination thereof as may be required for admission to the specific courses and the desired Universities while applying.

As per CUET 2023 Exam Pattern, the exam will be conducted in online mode in two slots- Slot 1 will be conducted from 9:00 am to 12:15 p, for a duration of 15 to 60 minutes to 195 minutes while Slot 2 will be conducted from 3:00 p.m to 6:45 pm for a duration of 45 minutes to 225 minutes. CUET 2023 Syllabus for UG courses will consist of three sections Section IA and IB will be Language-based, Section II Domain-Specific Subjects, and Section III will be a General Test.

CUET Syllabus 2023 for UG consists of the following sections:

  • Section IA- 13 Languages (can be opted as a medium of CUET Exam and Language)

What is Test Design for CUET 2023?

The test design for CUET 2023 may differ for candidates since the structure of the exam will be based on the candidate’s choice of exam and the requirement of the university that they are seeking admission. Candidates appearing in CUET 2023 are advised to go through CUET 2023 brochure of the respective Universities to understand the admission requirements.

Candidates appearing in CUET 2023 can opt to appear in a maximum of 9 tests from the above sections. These can be in either of the following subject combinations

  • The combination to opt for a maximum of 9 tests can either be a maximum of 2 languages from Section IA and IB taken together a maximum of 6 Domain Subjects from Section II, and a General Test from Section III.

  • Candidates can also choose a maximum of three subjects from Section IA and IB taking together a maximum of 5 Domain subjects from Section II, and a General Test from Section III.

CUET 2023 Schedule

Test and Schedule of CUET 2023

CUET 2023 Exam Dates are yet to be announced by NTA. However, as per information contained in the official brochure, CUET 2023 will be conducted on multiple days in two slots per day. These slots will also be determined by the syllabus opted for by the candidate:

Why CUET 2023 Test Schedule is determined by CUET Syllabus?

The test schedule for CUET 2023 will be determined based on the subjects/ tests opted for by the candidate:

  • In Slot 1 as per the time duration of the exam, candidates can opt for a maximum of 4 tests only. (One language from Section IA, maximum two domain-specific subjects from Section II, and one General Test from Section III)
  • In Slot 2, as per the duration of the exam, candidates can opt for a maximum of 5 tests. (One Language from Section IA and Section IB and a maximum of four domain-specific subjects from Section II OR Two languages from Section IA and IB and a maximum of three domain-specific subjects from Section II).
  • In this way, if candidates choose to appear in both slots, a maximum of 9 tests can be opted by the candidates.

Ques.; What is the syllabus for CUET 2023?

Ans: CUET Syllabus is different for candidates appearing in CUET-UG and CUET- PG. CUET- UG syllabus is based on Class 12th Syllabus. The questions will be based on Languages, Domain-Specific Subjects, and a General Test that will comprise of Numerical Ability, General Knowledge/ Current Affairs, Analytical and Logical Reasoning, and General Mental Ability. Ques.: Is Maths compulsory for CUET 2023?

Ans: For candidates who will be appearing in CUET- 2023 for admission to Undergraduate programs, General Test Section will comprise questions from Quantitative Reasoning. However the questions will be based on Simple application of basic mathematical concepts/Algebra Geometry/ Mensuration and stat taught till Grade 8th, Logical and Analytical Reasoning

Ques.: How many tests am I required to take for CUET 2023?

Ans: Candidates can appear in a maximum of 9 tests from the three sections Language, Domain-Specific, and General Test. These can be in any combination like a maximum of 2 languages from Section IA and IB taken together a maximum of 6 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section IIII or a maximum of three subjects from Section IA and IB taken together, and a maximum of 5 Domain subjects from Section II and General Test from Section III.

Ques.: In which medium of language, can I appear in CUET 2023?

Ans: Section IA of CUET 2023- comprises 13 languages. Candidates can opt for any of those as the medium of instruction in CUET 2023. Other than Section-IA languages, English will also be a medium of instruction for CUET 2023.

Ques.: Is CUET MCQ based?

Ans: CUET Question Paper will consist of Multiple Choice Questions. There will be three sections- Section I will consist of Language-specific Section IA and Section IB. There will be a total of 50 MCQs from each section. Section II – Domain-Specific will consist of 50 questions and Section III for General Test will consist of 75 questions. Candidates will be required to attempt 40 questions from Section IA, IB, and Section II and 65 questions from Section III. 

Ques.: How many subjects are there in CUET Syllabus 2023?

Ans: There are 27 Domain-Specific subjects that candidates can opt from for CUET 2023. These include but are not limited to Accountancy, Agriculture, Biology, Economics, Agriculture, Mathematics, Political Science, Psychology, Sanskrit, and Physics.

Ques.: Are 12th books sufficient to prepare for CUET 2023?

Ans: Yes as the difficulty level of CUET 2023 is based on the Class 12th syllabus, candidates can prepare for the exam from Class 12th Books. Candidates can also refer to other books like Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning by R.S. Agrawal, and Lucent General Knowledge to prepare for the G.K. Section.
