What students say about Dyal Singh College - [DSC]

Likes

  • The best thing is that we have college in between bus station and metro station so need to walk for coming college
  • NCC of Dyal singh college is one of the best NCC among DU colleges.
  • One of the best Library with 100k+ books with 15 days validity
  • Grounds.. And the facilities that make it perfect in a sense
  • Faculties of the college are best from my point of view
  • Sports and festivals - it's very good to see there , encouraged environment.
  • Faculty is very good in this college as almost teachers are phd

Dislike

  • No stipend was offered. Most of the students wanted to go for M.Sc., so very few went to the placement cell.
  • There were not many placements for science students, and being in a science course, I have no idea about the placement cell.
  • There are two examination forms that need to be filled annually, along with an examination fee that is less than 1000 rupees.
  • I would rate the hostel infrastructure and facilities 2/5 because they exist only for formality. There is no common room for boys (although there is one for girls, it is not well maintained), which is very disappointing.
  • There is nothing bad about my college, but proper infrastructure should be there to show that the environment can support studying. A cricket ground should also be implemented, and the library should have access to all the books.

Placement Experience:

The placement is not very good. Basically, after completing many students go for M.A. and many go for different competitive exams like civil services, state exams, etc. But companies come to our college for internships. The highest package is around 6 lakhs per year.

Remarks:

There was an entrance exam named CUET. Based on that exam and board exam marks we got the colleges according to the cut-offs. There is a reservation for girls and another backward caste too. A lot of things are needed to be taken care of during filling out the form.

Placement Experience:

There is one placement cell in our college which organize various internship and job fair. It also provides various jobs after college but they are not so high. After completing my degree I want to pursue a career in Civil Service.

Remarks:

For the BA programme, Students of any field are eligible. Its admission depends on CUET exam which having 750 fees for General category . There are also reservation benefits in exam form as well as marks in entrance test. Before 2021 it was completely based on 12th marks so in that condition there was value of 12th marks but now it is completely based on entrance test so there is a scope for improvement. There should be a ratio of 12th marks and entrance test marks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course as the science department faculty was really nice and all the lab work and lectures were good. Teachers were very friendly and the attendance system was also there at that time. Exams were pretty difficult.

Remarks:

It was a very smooth process. I saw the cut-off in newspapers. And then I went to college to get myself admitted. It was divided according to the courses. Forms were available, and a DD of an equivalent amount was to be submitted. 3% relaxation for girls was there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have PCM in class 12 and I am interested in computer science so this course provides me with a good opportunity in this course we have to teach physics, maths and Computer science. There are lots of opportunities in this course we have to do Mtech in cs and MSC in physics, and maths. The faculty are very helpful and well-qualified Students ratio are 7:3. Faculty are Ph.D. holders and have a long experience in teaching. The first seminar exams are held between January and February exam are at moderated level. If you study hard then it's easy to pass.

Remarks:

From 2022 Du gives admission on the basis of the CUET exam. That's being held from 2022. It is a national-level exam. In this there are total 15lakhs candidates are apply. It became 2nd largest national-level exam after NEET. The application started in March and April. The application fee is based on how many subjects you choose but the minimum is 700 for general and obc. which is for the general test, A language (like English, Hindi, etc), and 650 for other categories. No reserved seat depending upon college to college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I wanted to go for upsc and pol science is a good option for that Faculty needs improvement, availability of teachers is a concern and 50% of teachers aren't capable of teaching in a required way Everyone has a PhD but teaching isn't satisfactory. Students from the whole of India come there with lots of Hope and 90% of students lose that hope after just 2 seems Exams were always on time that's the best thing. But scoring good grades is extremely difficult

Remarks:

I got admission through merit based on my 12th class marks percentage. Everything can be found on the official website. I didn't take any reservations but many categories are given reservations in seats and also international students, as well as local students, get admission through different scholarships No, it's good no need for such improvements but like other Universities, there should be given an I'd and passcode and a login page should be availed where students can get information about their course performance and also their academic details

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was from a biology background and I was interested in botany also so I decided to opt for the same. Faculties are well-educated, friendly, and good in behavior also. The teaching method of all the faculties is very good and they have completed their Ph.D. and some have master's degrees too. Exam time is decided by Delhi University for our college and it is very easy to pass the exams just by reading the notes given by teachers.

Remarks:

Eligibility of the course was based on percentage criteria decided by the University of Delhi for our batch based on our percentage, I was supposed to apply for colleges of Delhi University and I found Dyal Singh college appropriate for me. Application forms can be found on the du portal on google and we can check our profile with the email and password we use to fill out the admission form.

Placement Experience:

The placement cell of the college keeps updates of different internships and Placements offered, you become eligible for the internship from sem1 itself but for max placements, you need to be a 3rd-year student.

Remarks:

The admission process was easy, you just need to register with DU on their Portal which is available on the university website and after uploading all your documents you just need to wait for the cutoff list, once cut off list out just matches your cuet score with that and if you are eligible just apply for admission.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason for selecting this course was to get more detailed knowledge about commerce and all the practical subjects and learn more about the corporate workings and work life experience. The faculty student ration was a appropriate as the teachers were able to interact with all the students without delaying the syllabus. The teachers were really well qualified and experts in not just the curriculum but also in teaching real-life problem-solving methods. The exams were at a level that will make you challenge yourself but not at a level where it will be impossible for u to get a good score.

Remarks:

the eligibility of the course was your 12th score. If you have an above 95 score in 12th grade then you have a high chance of getting selected. The application process was completely online. There was some benefit of reservations.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I wanted to pursue CA along with UG so the syllabus is almost the same for these 2 courses. The faculty is adequate for students available. Teaching is like just anything u can expect in a normal college. Not too good. There are 4 exams in a year, 2 semesters and 2 midsemester.

Remarks:

I got admission on a merit basis i.e based on 12th-class marks but now DU takes the CUET entrance exam for admissions. Forms are available on DU's website. For admission in BCom (h) u must have commerce in the 12th class with maths. Reservations are available for OBC etc.
