Bemidji State University Admission Deadlines

The university follows a rolling admission policy. Some of the programs in the university possess firm seasonal deadlines. The university encourages prospective students to apply for admission at the earliest for faster selection. International students are required to arrive at the campus of Bemidji State University at least one week prior to the beginning of their session. It is mandatory for overseas students to attend the student orientation program.

Every international student will require either an F-1 or J-1 visa for studying in the U.S. International students applying for admission online must select “International Visa Holder or Seeker” under the ‘Citizenship’ option. Admission Requirements: A list of supporting documents required to be submitted along with the application are given below. Students must scan and submit these documents to the admission office via email.

  1. High school transcripts: Applicants must submit original transcripts or copies of original transcripts with official certification from all institutions previously attended. Applicants whose transcripts are not in English must also include translation from a certified agency.
  2. Proof of English language proficiency: It is mandatory for all international students except the ones who apply for the program offered by the English Language Center.
  3. Financial Affidavit: This must include Cost Info and Expense Sheet. It is required to check that the student has enough funding to cover the cost of studying one year at BSU. This form will be considered only if it has required signatures, bank statements, official letters or an affirmation of support.
  4. Statement of Purpose: It is a requirement where students must demonstrate their academic background, future educational goals and how the University is going to help them achieve it.
  5. Completed and signed International Student Agreement Form
  6. Applicant’s copy of the passport identification page
  7. Completed authorization form to release student information

Visa Process for International Students

The University issues an I-20 or DS-2019 which enables students to apply for an F-1 or J-1 visa to study in the USA . In order to do so, the University requires financial documents that include Financial Affidavit, 2022-23 cost information, and 2022-23 expense sheets, and a copy of the applicant’s ID page of the passport.

However, these documents are not required at the time of application submission. These are required when full admission of the applicant is confirmed. Any documents required in addition to the application can be mailed to international@bemidjistate.edu .

Bemidji State University Undergraduate Admissions 

International undergraduate students willing to apply to Bemidji State University must have completed secondary/ high school with an average ‘C’ grade or above. Documents submitted in the addition to the ones required will not be considered for the evaluation. Also, the University can ask for original copies of any documents which it finds suitable.

Students whose admission is confirmed will be sent a welcome packet which will include I-20 or DS-2019 and the letter confirming admission. On receiving admission confirmation, students must follow some procedures before their arrival. This includes signing I-20/ DS-2019, payment of SEVIS fee, applying for student visa and arranging their arrival at Bemidji, Minnesota.

All international applicants need to arrive at the university at least 1 week prior to the commencement of the term to attend the mandatory new international student orientation. The orientation program is conducted by the International Program Center in every fall and spring term.
