The course teaches everything about a plant, from a seed to a fully grown plant and its care. The scientific knowledge imparted helps to enhance their growth and productivity. The course has many aspects borrowed from Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Genetic Engineering, and other fields. Over six semesters, students are taught everything they need to know related to plants.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must graduate from a U.S. high school.
- Students must have their foreign transcripts evaluated by an independent credentials evaluator.
- Students are required to maintain at least a 2.0 overall GPA.
Language Requirments:
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.
- Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission.
International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
TOEFL, PTE, and IELTS scores are only considered official when they are sent to the Office of Admissions directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
- Transcripts: Official transcripts from all educational institutions students have attended.
- Online application form: Students have to submit an online application form at the official website.
VISA & Work Study
VISA
- International Student and Scholar Services will process an I-20 or DS-2019 (U.S. DHS Certificates of Eligibility) needed for visa applications after students have been formally admitted to Auburn.
- ISSS normally receives and processes the admissions paperwork needed to create these documents approximately a week after students have received admission notification for undergraduate students.
- This occurs approximately two weeks after students have been fully accepted by the Graduate School for graduate students.
Career and Placement after Course
This field has plenty of scopes as the field is expanding and other sectors are also incorporating horticulturists. Traditionally, the career prospects of a horticulturist would be limited to designing and garden-related jobs, but because of expanding technology, they are now required in several other fields too. For example, genetic engineering has advanced horticultural technology and made it possible to grow better produce and in places where they would not grow before. This gives rise to a whole industry related to export and research. Horticulturists can work in research, in actively growing genetically engineered plants and caring for them, in lab trials and experiments, etc. Jobs are available in the private sector and the public sector, domestically and internationally.
