It is available to School of Journalism juniors with a 3.0 accumulative GPA in all work. The Carr Van Anda program includes the journalism core classes (4 classes) plus an approved selection of courses in journalism, media arts and studies or visual communication to equal 36 hours. Of the non-core class hours, a minimum of 12 hours must be in journalism. In addition, a student in this program must meet all journalism general liberal arts and specialization requirements and all Ohio University general education requirements. A student completing the Carr Van Anda program receives the Bachelor of Science in Journalism (BSJ), the same as journalism students in the news and information or strategic communication tracks.? Students are prepared for career paths in a variety of mass communication fields, including journalism for online and offline digital, broadcast and print platforms. They are also prepared for graduate programs in mass communication.?
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
- Students are required to maintain at least a 3.0 overall GPA.
Language Requirments:
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.
- Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission.
International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
