The American Chemistry Society (www.acs.org) is the largest scientific society in the world with over 163,000 members worldwide. The Otterbein University Department of Chemistry is approved by the American Chemistry Society and offers an ACS-certified Chemistry major to those students interested in a rigorous program of study that will prepare them for a range of careers or graduate study. Employers and graduate programs will recognize and appreciate the stronger preparation of those students who have obtained an ACS-certified degree.
The?B.A. degree provides?a basic background in chemistry, while providing flexibility in scheduling so you can pursue other interests, such as medical school requirements, teaching certification, a double major, or our 4+1 MBA program, in which you can obtain a B.A. in four years and finish your Masters in Business Administration in the fifth year.
The?B.S. degree?is an American Chemical Society (ACS) approved program that offers a broad-based and rigorous chemistry education to gives you intellectual, experimental, and communication skills to become an effective scientific professionals. ACS-approved departments are staffed by accomplished faculty, contain a modern and well-maintained infrastructure, and provide a coherent chemistry curriculum. Additionally, employers find graduates of approved programs to be better prepared for technical employment.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts for four years of high school/secondary school
- Transcripts must be sealed and stamped by the school and test scores should be sent directly from high school/testing agency
- Official transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES accredited agency like WES, ECE, SpanTran
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Students can also submit three letters of recommendations which is optional
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 79 in iBT; 550 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
- PTE: minimum 53
- Duolingo: minimum 105
