The target of the program includes persons with a master's degree who are currently employed or serve with an organization.
  • The target of the program includes persons with a master's degree who are currently employed or serve with an organization. The program is offered in a weekend format. Classes are offered at the main campus of UMES in Princess Anne, MD and at the Eastern Shore Higher Education Center (ESHEC) in Wye Mills, MD on Friday evenings, Saturday, and Sunday during Fall, Spring, and Summer Semesters.
  • This program has been in existence since 2002, and since that time, almost 100 students have matriculated with their Ph.D. degree. Students come to the ORLD program from a variety of backgrounds, including academia, large and small businesses and corporations, government, and the not-for-profit sector. The program provides a strong general foundation in both theoretical and methodological issues of Organizational Leadership, leading students to be able to take the knowledge and insights they have gained with them into a variety of settings.
  • The faculty and staff are highly dedicated and focused upon supporting students towards achieving successful outcomes. Classes are small and close knit, utilizing a cohort model where students engage in coursework with a group of peers. The program also utilizes a weekend-course model, enabling busy working professionals the opportunity to work towards a doctoral degree.
  • While this involves much hard work and significant sacrifices, it can be done, and it is one of the hallmarks that make this program stand out. In sum, the ORLD program works to enable its students to develop expertise in the rapidly developing area of Organizational Leadership, and particularly to be able to engage in interesting, innovative, and cutting-edge research in the field.
