Idaho State University International Student Admissions

Idaho State University programs enrolls international applicants for undergraduate and graduate courses in more than 250 programs mainly in the areas of Business Administration, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Communication, Computer Sciences and Informatics, Educational Administration, Elementary education and teaching, Physical education and teaching Civil, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Technology, Linguistics, General studies and Health and Related professions. The University accepts the application all year round but allots the seats on the basis of availability for Fall and Spring semesters for undergraduates and Fall, Spring and Summer semesters for graduate programs. All applicants need to fulfill the requirements of admission detailed by the institution.

The requirements include completing an application, uploading the required documents and providing the financial worthiness to attend the institution as a full-time student.

The international students have to obtain a study visa before they can reach the desired country and start their studies hence their admissions are subject to grant of visa which is entirely dependent on the U S Embassy.

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • The application is submitted through the College's website with an application fee.
  • Official copies of all Academic records in a sealed envelope.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.75 is required for undergraduates and 3.0 for graduate programs.
  • English language proficiency test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or other accepted tests).
  • SAT /ACT scores are for undergraduate admissions and GMAT/GRE scores for graduate programs.
  • Completing an online verification form is required.
  • For graduate admissions two letters of recommendation from academic counselors/teachers and Resume is needed.
  • An essay stating why you want to join the College in around 500 words.
  • Financial statement with original supporting documents.

  • The college also accepts international transfer students.

Issuance of I20 form or IAP 66 form may take 6 to 8 week’s time, therefore applicants need to start the application process keeping in mind the start date of the session they are applying for.

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

International applicants have to demonstrate English proficiency through one of the internationally recognized standardized examinations in English. Applicants are also requested to check course-wise specific requirements of different departments before seeking admission.

Visa Process for International Students

Applicants must submit the application, with all the documents which are specified below, after which they will receive Form I-20 or IAP66 from the Institute.

  • Application form, Resume, Essay and recommendation letters.
  • Copies ID pages of passport
  • Academic Transcripts
  • Proof of financial support (Bank statement/ Sponsor letter)
  • Passport pages with details of identification, DOB and residential address information
  • After receiving I-20, the applicant should apply for a student visa (F-1 visa) at the US Embassy by fulfilling the Embassy requirements of filing a completed application form and depositing the fee.
  • For obtaining a US visa, In-person interview and Biometrics are compulsory, which should be scheduled and attended by the applicant at the nearest Embassy office.

The international students have to maintain the full time student status according to the laws of the country. Once the applicant completes all requirements for admission and is in receipt of a letter of acceptance, he /she should begin the I-20 and visa process.
