Wilmington University Admission Deadlines

English Language Proficiency Test Requirements

The international students must demonstrate a minimum level of English proficiency by submitting minimum English proficiency test scores as specified below:

If the student can show documentation of a US degree or has taken particular courses from a US university (ENG101, ENG 102, research writing course) within 7 years of admission, the English proficiency requirements can be waived.

US Visa for International Students

International students will need a student visa to the United States. Candidates who have been offered a spot at Wilmington University will be sent an I-20 form.

To obtain an I-20, follow these steps:

After you've satisfied all of the admissions standards, you'll be given the form I-20 no later than 120 days before the program starts.
You will pay the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fee with your Form I-20. SEVIS is a system that connects the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement department with Wilmington University and is used to manage your I-20.
You will schedule a visa interview at the US Embassy that has jurisdiction over your location after receiving the Form I-20 and paying the SEVIS fee.
To obtain a student visa, you will need the following documents.

Ques. What happens if I can't keep my Grade Point Average (GPA) above a certain level?

Ans. Academic probation or suspension, as well as a negative impact on your student visa status, might occur if your GPA falls below the required minimum for your degree level. Ques. How many classes do I need to attend per semester to keep my Visa current?

Ans. Undergraduates are required to take 12 credits per semester. Graduate students are required to take nine credits per semester. If you're in the final semester of your program, you just need to take the classes you need to finish. Before contacting a Designated School Official (DSO) for authorization and guidance when you begin your final semester, please contact your program coordinator (for graduate students) or academic advisor (for undergraduate students) to review your program for completion.

Ques. What should I do if I want to change my name or correct my social security number?

Ans. To change their name or amend their spelling, students must obtain legal documentation (such as a driver's license, marriage certificate, or divorce decree). Students must produce their social security card as well as their driver's license in order to amend their social security number. These adjustments can be made in person at the Registrar's Office or by downloading and faxing the Student Data Change Form to the Registrar's Office.

Ques. What is the location of my class?

Ans. Classroom assignments will be displayed throughout the classroom buildings and on your schedule in myWilmU about two weeks before classes begin.

Ques. What does "auto–drop" mean, and how does it impact my visa status? What happens if I'm dropped from a class and don't have enough credits for the semester?

Ans. If a student misses the first two class meetings, they are automatically dropped from the course. Please be advised that if you are automatically dismissed from a course, you may not be able to keep your Visa status if you do not complete the requisite number of credits per semester.
