Master of Science in Biology at the University of California Los Angeles is a 2 years program.
It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
The two-year course of study consists of a combination of required coursework, elective courses, and seminars.
Students begin the program with a provisional faculty advisor and spend the first year taking a common set of required courses.
During the second year, students take a combination of elective courses and seminars and complete the program with the completion of a thesis or through a comprehensive exam.
Incoming master’s students receive support packages that include two academic years (6 quarters) of teaching assistantships.
It also provides a quarterly salary of approximately $7,000 per quarter.
Students having strong preparation in the areas of ecology, evolution, and/or behavior can apply for the scholarship.
Graduate students benefit from the extensive resources at UCLA, including state-of-the-art laboratory, computing, and library facilities.
The students who get admitted to the program are 10-15 in Ph.D. and 4-7 in the MSc degree program.
The master’s program offers graduate students curricular flexibility and access to extensive resources at UCLA, including a variety of interdisciplinary units which include the Institute of the Environment, the Center for Tropical Research, the UC Natural Reserve System, and the Center for Society and Genetics.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Students must complete a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
A GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 is required in the last two years of undergraduate coursework.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
Or, completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.

The submission of GRE scores is not compulsory for this program.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
