Brenda Solano Review at California State University [CSUN], Northridge | Collegedunia

I love my college and I enjoy learning there.

BS
8.8 /10

The program offered was the best fit for my individual needs. I liked the campus and the environment as well as the faculty and their areas of research. Lastly, the program gave me internships that would allow me to be able to gain experience as well as potentially get a job right out of college.

Course Curriculum :

I enjoy the coursework that I have. It is a full-time program so I am taking 30 units each semester but each course coincides with the other and allows the student to build upon the previous semester. The coursework allows the student to receive a holistic learning experience.

Placement :

There are various placements from any field such as medical, mental health, probation, school and more. This, in turn, allows students to narrow in on where they wish to pursue and during the last year students talk to potential agencies with the goal that if they do well enough there are open availability for them post-graduation.

Internship :

Yes, we have an internship each year. We work a required amount of hours to meet the minimum in order to qualify to get certified at the end of graduation. My experience has been great because I am allowed to work in fields that I have wanted to gain experience in or have never had experience in. I receive a holistic training by being in different fields as well as having supervision that allows for growth.

Fees :

It is a two-year program and each year has a set number of classes to take. Therefore, there is a set tuition fee. On top of that, one must pay for housing if they do not live nearby.

Examination Structure :

There are no exams. The program focuses on making sure the student retains the information but the information is not to be tested. Rather we apply our knowledge in essay format, using our knowledge to explain the problems we see in society and how to fix them.

Faculty :

Probably one of my favorite things about the college I am at is the faculty. They each specialize in their own area but they are amazing teachers. They provide an open and safe space for students to learn the area they wish to be in and can use their previous field experience to tie into what we learn in class. They also offer the opportunity to grow and connect with faculty. The atmosphere is nice, the university is diverse and my department and faculty are very open and kind. They wish for every student to learn and they work with the students to give them the best opportunity they can to succeed in life.
