Kaitlin de Varona Review at University Of Nevada [UNLV], Las Vegas | Collegedunia

UNLV- A new beginning

I went to UNLV because I lived in the state of Nevada and I wanted to use the Millennial Scholarship. I wanted to choose from a wide variety of programs and I wanted to attend a large university. I wanted to move away from my home town but also stay in state. UNLV satisfied all those needs.

Course Curriculum :

I enjoyed my corse curriculum. I had the opportunity to explore a variety of courses to best decide what my major would be while also getting credit and fulfilling basic core requirements for many majors.

Exams :

I took the SAT and ACT in order to apply for UNLV. They did not require any additional tests to apply.

Placement :

I'm not aware of the placement numbers. The program was highly geared toward outdoor land management in the west. At the time, job opportunities with state and federal government were tough to find. This is still the case.

Internship :

I was not aware of a specific internship that the college offered. My program offered course credit for jobs and internships that directly related to one's field of study. I believe a student could receive up to 6 credits for an outside internship.

Fees :

Student fees existed. They went towards the gym, library, and other student services. One large fee was paid at the beginning of each semester. Classes had their own fees sometimes as well.

Examination Structure :

Exams were highly variable. Anything from writing lengthy papers to multiple-choice tests and everything in between. Often, a variety of test structures were given. Classes usually had 4 to 5 tests per class.

Faculty :

The professors were outstanding and I learned a lot. There were a few courses I had to take, Where a grad student taught the class, and they were much more challenging. The grad students were not as good at teaching the material and were not as fun to learn from.
