Himani Hasani Review at Drexel University, Philadelphia | Collegedunia

There are various learning items to level up

HH
6.8 /10

Course Curriculum, Alumni Network. LeBow in particular has a great alumni network and the careers team here is exceptionally nice and helpful.

Course Curriculum :

The course is updated each year according to industry requirements. You have subject selection flexibility and can also choose to do a minor. The course is 45 credits. Drexel follows a quarter system. So you mostly cover 9 credits each quarter for the first three and then take subjects according to your wish after that.

Exams :

My scores: GRE 150 Verbal 155 Quant. IELTS 7.5; Unaware of class minimum. You must have previous work experiences - either full-time or internships which make you eligible and adaptable to the background here.

Placement :

Due to covid, research funding was limited this year. Else usually there are various research opportunities at Drexel. The pay varies from $10-20/per hour depending upon the work and professor. The university keeps conducting various networking events and many industries participate in them. Apart from university-wide career fairs, LeBow conducts its own networking events, and practice interviews with industry leaders who willingly take mock interviews of students and provide detailed feedback. The alumni help you a lot with placements if they have any openings in their companies.

Internship :

I personally worked in India as campus housing was shut down due to covid. But The process for an internship is to apply online or find one using your contacts or during college networking events. You need to apply for a CPT only then you can work. If the internship is unpaid- SSN is not required else you need to make SSN. The international student and scholar services at Drexel (ISSS) will provide all the help you need for this process.

Events :

The campus is huge and spread across various streets. Drexel has 3 campuses across Philly which are 1. University City- Main Campus- most student organizations, sorority and fraternity houses, gym, campus housing, college buildings are located on this campus. Apart from that the athletic center and various students halls are also located on this campus. Haggarty Library -3 floored library is located in the middle of the campus. There is campus-wide wifi for all Drexel students and faculty. 2. Center City Campus- Drexel Medicine is on this campus 3. Queens Lane Campus All these campuses are connected by Shuttle buses running in 15/30 min intervals.

Fees :

The fee calculation is per credit. For LeBow College of Business, it is $1139 per credit. You also pay an enrollment fee each quarter. If you are enrolled full-time for a particular quarter(full-time would mean 9 credits or more) it is $280. For quarters where you are enrolled part-time (like summer during internship or last quarter where you mostly have 3/6 credits left or any number of credits below 9), it is $140. So the fee for the full-time quarter with 9 credits is calculated as - (1139*9)+280= 10,531. The scholarship amount is awarded based on the number of credits you take in each quarter. It is evenly distributed according to it.

Scholarship :

Yes - $18,000/total LeBow Alumni Merit Scholarship. No additional application for the scholarship. There is a deadline for applying. If you apply before that you are considered for a scholarship.

Faculty :

The student-to-faculty ratio was usually 1:25. The faculty and staff are really cooperative. They help you with your personal and professional growth. Apart. the form that frequent webinars and workshops are conducted by industry experts and alumni for the skill development of current students.

Hostel :

Living is a bit expensive in Philadelphia. If you live near campus- on-campus housing is $900-1200 per month depending upon which campus building it is. If you live off campus it varied from $350-1000. If you take 1 BHK and 3 people share it will usually cost about $350 per person. If you live in a studio alone it will be about $850. Usually, 3-bed and 3-bath apartments are preferred as they cost about $500-600 per month including all utilities This is usually exclusive of furniture.
