School of Business, University of Connecticut International Student Admissions

School of Business, University of Connecticut does not consider a 3-year bachelor degree from India, Canada or Australia, for graduate admission. Applicants from these countries can only apply if they have a 4-year bachelor's degree.

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • Official transcripts, Diplomas, mark sheets, or courses and grades from institutions outside of the United States.
  • Transcripts in both English and the native language of the university are required.
  • An official copy of degree certificate or diploma.
  • Individual/yearly mark sheets
  • Satisfy the English proficiency requirement
  • For students in countries where the transcript does not indicate the degree received, an official degree diploma attested by a university official must also be submitted in the original language and accompanied by an English translation.
  • The Graduate School will accept Chinese transcripts that are verified by either CHESICC (China Higher Education Student Information and Career Center), or CDGDC (China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center).

English Proficiency Requirement for International Students

International students are required to submit the following test scores to demonstrate proficiency in the English language:

Visa Process for International Students

International students should apply for the F-1 student visa as soon as possible, to complete the admission process. Required material must be submitted to International Students and Scholar Services (ISSS) office 1 month before the start of classes, to ensure proper I-20 processing.

The students should submit the following documents to the ISSS office:

  • Financial Declaration Form
  • Proof of Support
  • Copy of Passport

Because of the academic format, some of the graduate programs are unable to issue student visas, therefore the students are advised to apply only to those programs that can issue visas, which are:

  • Full-time MBA Program
  • MS in Business Analytics and Project Management
  • MS in Financial Risk Management

All international students are charged an additional Visa Compliance Fee 350 USD per semester (Fall and Spring only).

The admission is given on the basis of three parts of the application. A student’s academics are 60% of application, which includes the GPA, grade trends and more. The essay accounts for 30% of a student’s application. The remaining accounts for the current resume from applicants. Applications for all majors in the School of Business are accepted within the first two weeks of every Fall and Spring term.
