The path toward a more sustainable future requires the leadership of professionals trained in a variety of fields. An environmental studies degree at Mills will prepare you to inspire change in environmental policy, environmental law, education, sustainable agriculture, food justice, and many other areas.

Our program will challenge you to view the relationship between humans and the biosphere from new perspectives, using a range of critical frameworks. In small, collaborative classes, you?ll develop a multidisciplinary understanding of ecological systems and environmental issues. Students majoring in environmental studies take courses in biology, chemistry, economics, environmental science, and public policy, and have the option of exploring anthropology, sociology, government, and philosophy.?

With the support of dedicated faculty, you?ll gain hands-on experience, pose independent research questions, powerfully communicate your ideas to an audience, and write analytically rigorous papers.
