Course Curriculum Overview:

Since CSE is the most demanding course with lots of scopes so I chose it. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:40 which is very good compared to other colleges The faculty members are duly qualified in their respective fields and have vast experience in their fields which helps the students in to gain knowledge. Most of the teachers adopt the traditional method of teaching i.e they make notes explain them to the students and make them write the notes. The exams are conducted three times per semester. T1(term 1), T2(term 2) and end semester. The T1 and T2 exams are of 1 hour and two papers are conducted per day while the end sem exams are of 3 hours and only one paper is conducted per day. If you study well for the exams they are not that hard to pass and you can get good grades if you carefully read all the notes made by the teachers

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since Computer Science is the most demanding course these days and has a wide scope, so I chose this course. The faculty-student ratio is approx 1:40 which is quite good. The faculties are duly qualified in their field and are experienced. Some have an exceptional teaching method that makes the subject interesting while others adopt the traditional method of teaching. Overall the teaching method is good. The exams are conducted three times per semester- term 1, term 2, and end-semester exams. The term exams are an hour long while the end sem exams last for 3 hours. As of now, in term examinations, there are exams of two subjects per day and in endsem one subject exam is there per day. If you prepare properly for the exams and start studying well before the exams, they are not that difficult to pass. I would say, if you start preparing two weeks before the exams, you can easily get a decent CGPA. Some exams are lengthy while others we can complete well before time.

Ques. Should I pursue IT at PICT or CSE at IIIT-Pune (Chakan)?

● Top Answer By Anubhav Kumar on 23 Mar 21

I have a friend at IIIT Pune. I only heard good things about the institute from him. Here are some facts about IT at PICT and CSE at IIIT-Pune, which may help you to decide.  Teachers: All of the faculties of IIIT-Pune are Ph.D. holders from institutes like IIT KGP, NITs, and foreign universities. Most of the faculties of PICT are M.Tech or still pursuing their PhDs. Crowd:  Instead of going home during vacations, students attend Android and Web development workshops.  Faculties encourage students to take up projects and internships from the first semester. Degree:  Students get B.Tech in IIIT-Pune as compared to a B.E. at PICT.  IIIT-Pune's curriculum doesn't include subjects like Civil, Engineering Drawing, Mechanics, Mechanical, Chemistry which are of no use in the course of CSE. Institute of National Importance: IIIT-Pune is like all the IITs, NITs, IIITs which is an Institute of National Importance( INI) which leads to a lot of Government funds and monetary support.  Students who did their 12th from the MP board or others can receive a full tuition fee waiver for 4 years of their B. Tech since IIIT Pune is an INI. Sports and Clubs: Any student can start a club of their own if they have a passion for something at IIIT-Pune.  IIIT- Pune bagged 5 medals in IIT- BHU’s Annual Sports Fest Spardha and continues to receive honors in other sports events as well. Attendance and Holidays: PICT has minimum attendance criteria of 75% and PICT imposes an 80% attendance. PICT has 9 days winter break and 15 days summer break, so if you are not a local then you will not get to see much of your family. At IIIT-Pune students get 1 month of Winter Break and about 2.5 months of Summer Break.  Exposure and Brand: IIIT-Pune students usually go for two industrial visits to Infosys and Tech Mahindra.  IIIT is a brand as there are a total of 23 IIITs in India and are recognized throughout the country and overseas.  IIIT-Pune also has inter-IIT sports and technical fests every year where all the IIITs across the country take part. Students think that PICT is old so it’s better and yes it’s been around for 20 years since PICT’s inception and it has developed whereas IIIT-Pune is just 2 years old and has the potential for tremendous growth. ...Read more
