What students say about IIT BHU - Indian Institute of Technology

Likes

  • The campus infrastructure is impressive, with well-equipped laboratories and libraries, providing an excellent environment for both study and innovation
  • The teachers and the class room makes a perfect environment for studying in my course.
  • Presence of bank, parks, temple inside the campus is best thing which IIT BHU provide.
  • Campus life is superb here and this college campus which is largest in india
  • Awesome placements in my college , with highest record till now of 2.15 cr.
  • I am really impressed with the placement percentage and highest packages.
  • Varanasi as a city is very beautiful where you get a lot of attractions

Dislike

  • The majority of professors are downright arrogant, and instead of delivering quality education, they like to believe that they have a bunch of idiotic, drunkard, and irresponsible students to teach.
  • Now that your Google form insists on completing 100 words for this question, I am left with no other option but to write unnecessary content.
  • As mentioned earlier, the hostel quality is very poor in terms of facilities and accommodations, so we feel very uncomfortable here. This discomfort negatively affects our studies.
  • The institute itself provides hostels for student accommodation, but the hostels are in very poor condition.
  • The only remark is the infrastructure because it was a 100-year-old institution, Banaras Hindu University, and we are a part of it. I am not happy with the hostel facility.

Placement Experience:

Placements at IIT bhu are the best amongst second-gen iits and 90%+ students get placed in their final year. The profiles of jobs offered include sde, analytics, consulting products, and core jobs. The packages offered are also very good and I plan to pursue the job I have gained from college.

Remarks:

- To get admission to IIT BHU one needs to appear in JEE mains and advance, application form for those can be found on NTA's website and after clearing the mains cutoff, jee advanced form can be found on the website of whichever it is conducting jee advanced that year. The application fees were nearly 1000. And the dates for the first mains exam are around December or january. I did get the benefit of obc quota while admission to get into it but.

placement: 9/10
college: 8/10
course: 6/10
hostel: 6/10
internship: 7/10
campus life: 7/10

Ques. What are the views of IIT-BHU students about Kashi Utkarsh?

● Top Answer By Ayush Singh on 16 Feb 22

Kashi Utkarsh is an initiative of IIT BHU students. Through this initiative, they try to help people living in the slums near Varanashi. Due to poverty and poor hygiene, the kids in the slums have limited scope for development.  Some of the activities of KU are as below. On weekends students travel to the slum areas and teach the kids for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya admission test. They also persuade parents to send their kids to schools. This may sound easy but many parents need a lot of convincing and committed efforts. KU with the help of IIT BHU students helps raise funds to pay the school fees of these kids. KU also raised funds for special emergencies. For instance, a few years back KU helped raise funds for the operation of a girl with a hole in her heart. The operation happened in Bangalore. Few students and Professors took care of the kid through the whole process. ...Read more

Ques. What are the changes that took place in the college after IT-BHU  got converted into IIT BHU?

● Top Answer By Kaushik Mahapatra on 14 Aug 20

IT(BHU) got converted into an IIT in 2012. The institute has seen many changes since then. A few major ones have been listed as below: There is a new administration, which is directly influenced by the MHRD. The processes of recruiting faculty is more thorough and therefore, newly recruited faculty are better qualified as well as equipped for teaching. There is now a proper course structure to be followed, with each course having a more rigid curriculum. The academic calendar is taken more seriously. Exams happen twice - one mid-semester and one end-semester instead of the CT’s and final exams. There is a new 75% attendance rule. Assignments and projects have become a major part of many courses. The concept of relative grading has been introduced. There is a much more functional Training and Placements Cell, along with a new Entrepreneurship Cell. There are also new start-up incubators. Placements have seen an obvious major boost. Many new departments have been added - the latest being Architecture. Also, department fests are taken much more seriously. More and more students are enrolled each year into various departments. This has also resulted in the construction of new hostels and increasing room occupancy of some. A new library has been built and a new student activity center is being constructed. Many new councils and clubs have been introduced. Google Start-up Weekend, FMC Weekend, and IIT(BHU) Modern United Nations are being held every year. Also, TEDx is being conducted whenever possible. The campus now has not only Internet access but also numerous WiFis. A huge marketplace developed nearer to the “IIT side” of the campus....Read more
