Course Description

To apply for admission, the candidates must first apply for the relevant exams via the respective exam authorities. Candidates can apply for admission to IIIT-A by following the given steps:

Visit the official website and click on the ‘Apply Online’ link.
Register and login.
Fill in the mandatory details.
Pay the application fee via Net Banking/Credit Card / Debit Card or e-Challan at any branch of SBI.
Submit the form.

Application Fee

M.Tech.	INR. 2200/- (INR.1700/- for SC/ST candidates)
Ph.D.	INR. 500/- (INR. 250/- for SC/ST candidates)

Note- All eligible candidates will have to register and fill their choices online during the specified period given in the schedule as well as notified on the CCMT website for seat allotment.

Is a dual degree (specialization software) from IIIT Allahabad better than a B.Tech in Computer science from VNIT Nagpur, SVNIT Surat, MANIT Bhopal, or NIT Kurukshetra?

It won’t be good to compare the Dual Degree of one place to B. Tech of another. However, B. Tech (IT) from IIIT Allahabad is definitely better than B. Tech (CS) of all the NITs that have been mentioned.

Keep in mind that IIITs, NITs are next to IITs in terms of excellence in the Indian Scenario. But it doesn’t mean that NITs are ranked right next to IITs as the second ones. If you want a corporate job, you need to ruin a precious one year of your life for the dual degree.

A dual degree implies that you have made more effort than the normal degree students. You have gathered knowledge in additional subjects, which is better. This also means that your time has always been shared between projects. But companies tend to lean towards the ones who have done their degrees separately.

If you are willing to put in an effort, you should definitely go for dual degree courses with a strong commitment and determination. Towards the end, all that matters is, how much skill you have gained and how you put into use for the effective problem-solving at work that you are doing.

Is placement of dual degree BTech+MTech(IT) any less than that of BTech IT students at IIIT Allahabad?

There are several sorts of dilemmas regarding the placement of dual degree B.Tech+ M.Tech students in IIIT Allahabad. Here is what I gathered from my friends at the institute.

For dual degree students, there are enough placement opportunities in IIIT Allahabad. There are a few companies that prefer dual degree students over B. Tech graduates too, as per their own needs.
Considering the placement strategies of some companies, they consider the dual degree students as overqualified candidates, and so prefer the B.Tech students over them. This is not the case with every company visiting the campus.
In recent times, the IIIT Allahabad placement committee is trying hard by making formal discussions with companies to allow the dual degree students to participate in internship interviews too, mostly during their intermediate semesters. This will ease the fact of partiality to some extent.

Therefore, considering the factors stated above, it is clear that dual degree students do face problems in some companies’ recruitment drives. But, they do have a good amount of placement overall.
