Both the colleges are well-renowned. But there are certain things I would like to bring to your notice-
As per college rankings, MNNIT is the top NIT in North India. It witnesses very good placements in IT/CSE. The average package for IT is almost at par with that for CSE. This year, the average package was around 24 LPA for IT and 27 LPA for CSE. The CSE students at MNIT Jaipur receive comparatively way lower packages.
At MNNIT, CS, and IT students have the same curriculum till 2nd year. Even after the 2nd year, only 1 or 2 subjects are different. The coding culture is great, and coders perform really well on various platforms like CodeChef, HackerEarth, Hackerrank, etc.
I would recommend you choose IT at MNNIT Allahabad.
Should I prefer an IT in the IIIT Allahabad or CSE in the MNIT Jaipur having a rank of 5k?
You should prefer IT at IIIT Allahabad. It has a great IT culture. You will have unlimited opportunities to develop skills in coding, app development, web development, game development, etc. The course structure includes core IT subjects from the first year itself. The coding culture on campus is excellent. Students of IIIT Allahabad dominate popular coding forums such as ACM-ICPC, Codechef, and Spoj.

Which is better, MNIT for CSE or IIT Mandi for electrical?
Although both programs are offered by prestigious institutes, I prefer CSE at MNIT to electrical at IIT Mandi. Considering only the branches it’s not a brainer that CSE offers much better placement opportunities than Electrical. I am not saying IIT Mandi placements are not good, it's just that they cannot be compared to MNNIT CSE placements.
I would suggest that you go for CSE at MNNIT rather than Electrical at IIT Mandi. Yes, you will miss the much coveted IIT tag but trading it with an NIT tag, better college life, and excellent placement opportunities is not a bad deal right? The moment you sit for placements and start receiving excellent packages in contrast to your counterpart electricals, you will realize how wise your decision to choose CSE was.
Which is better, CSE from MNIT Jaipur or mechanical from IIT Jodhpur?
It depends on what it is that you want as both are different subjects. It depends on your preference. According to my cousin who studied CSE at MNIT, if you want a challenging job and you are aiming for PSUs, then mechanical engineering may be good. But the placements of mechanical even in top colleges like IITs will be lower than their CSE counterparts.
- If you like corporate sector private jobs in the IT or software sector, then CSE at MNIT Jaipur is a very good option.
- Campus placements will be much easier with packages far higher than mechanical.
- This does not mean that CSE is an easy subject. It can be difficult especially if you do not have a coding background in your class 11th and 12th.
- For that, you need to put extra effort during your graduation.

Based on the average package, I would recommend you opt for either MNIT Jaipur ECE or MANIT Bhopal CSE. MANIT Bhopal is a good option for B.Tech CSE. You’ll have good placement prospects as a CSE student at this college. Do consult some seniors from all these colleges/branches to make a more informed choice.
Which should I choose, MNNIT Allahabad, MNIT Jaipur or PEC Chandigarh for CSE if home state is not a problem?
MNNIT Allahabad has recently placed more than 2000 students in top companies like HP, HCL, Adobe and Oracle. Out of 167 students 163 were placed from the CSE department.
MNIT Jaipur is approved by AICTE and MHRD. It is funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
PEC Chandigarh is one of the pioneer engineering institutes in Punjab ranking 68th among the top engineering colleges as per NIRF ranking 2020.

MNNIT Allahabad
- The candidates must secure a minimum of 75% marks in 10+2 in the science stream and a valid score in the JEE Main exam.
- The cutoff required is 1269 - 3101.
- The course fee required is INR 84,667.
- The seats allocated are 30.
MNIT Jaipur
- The candidates must have a 10+2 degree with a minimum of 75% marks with valid score in JEE Main followed by CSAB counselling.
- The cutoff required is 2103 - 3938.
- The course fee required is INR 93,568.
- The total seats allocated is 93.
PEC Chandigarh
- The candidates must have a minimum of 75% marks in 10+2 with PCM and valid score in JEE Main.
- The cutoff required is 3282 - 7074.
- The total seats allocated is 37 per department.
- The course fee required is INR 96,750.
Placements:
- MNNIT Allahabad saw the participation of 1174 students in the campus drive of 2019 and out of which 792 students got jobs.
- MNIT Jaipur maintains an excellent placement record every year. A total of 417 students have been placed from both the UG and PG programs. Around 160+ companies visited the campus in 2019.
